I am using Thunderbird with IMAP accounts and the Swedish language pack. My Inbox is correctly displayed as "Inkorgen", but other system folders like "Drafts" still show their English names instead of the Swedish ones (e.g. "Utkast").

In the folder properties dialog, it looks like there is a field for the display name separate from the server path, but I cannot edit it for system folders. For custom folders I can rename them, but not for Drafts, Sent, or Trash.

Is there a way to change only the display name of these system folders without altering the IMAP path? Or is this a limitation in Thunderbird's localization/mapping?

I have installed Thunderbird on a new system and imported my mailbox and archives from my old Mac (both running macOS). I am currently using macOS Monterey 12.7.6 and Thunderbird 40.5.0 ESR (64-bit).

All messages—whether imported or newly received—both in the Inbox and in archives are showing the month as April (i.e., xx/4/xx). This issue also appears in the email body when replying or forwarding messages. Please note that the day and year are correct, only the month appears incorrectly as “4” (April)on all messages.

Messages in the imported local folder archives display the correct dates. I have email folders going back to 2006, and I would greatly appreciate your guidance to resolve this issue.

In Thunderbird's Settings under "Language & fonts, Choose the languages used to display menus, messages, and notifications from Thunderbird" I have selected Danish and English. Now I would like to remove English, because my folder pane is displayed in English, even though I have selected Danish as the first language (I am from Denmark). But I cannot remove English in Settings, only move Danish or English up or down. I cannot click on the Remove check mark, neither for Danish nor English. Does anyone know why?

Some email messages have wonky text - how to fix this in Thunderbird?

Same question for how to fix in Firefox.

Bonjour, Après plusieurs essais je n'arrive pas à mettre les dossiers de mes comptes mails en Francais ? ceux-ci restent tels que: - Drafts, - Sent, - Junk, - Trash. Par contre le dossier "Courrier entrant" est bien en Francais. Dans les paramêtres impossible de les changer. Merci de votre aide.

I am writing to report an issue with the folder names in your program.

Although I have selected Polish as the primary language setting within the application, the names of system folders (such as Inbox, Sent Items, Drafts, etc.) are all displayed in English.

Crucially, on my original mailbox (accessible via webmail or other clients), these folder names are correctly displayed in Polish.

I have attempted to change these folder names manually within your application, but the changes do not persist, and the names revert back to English. There seems to be no other option within the app to correctly synchronize or change the display language for these folders to Polish.

Could you please investigate this issue and provide a solution to ensure the folder names are displayed in Polish, consistent with my language setting and original mailbox configuration?

I was looking for a Finnish spell checker, but apparently there is none. The issue appears to be that a dictionary is far from enough for checking Finnish as the endings embedded into words do the trick prepositions do in many languages (i.e. house - talo, to the house - taloon, from the house - talosta, from my house - talostani). There is a spell checker engine available (Voikko), but the WebExtension API fundamentally doesn't provide the needed support. Likely LLM helpers will have the same issue.

Questions: Is my understanding correct? Is there any plans that this could be fixed ? Any tricks that could be applied ? i.e. old enough version as it used to work for long time a ago?

If my understanding is correct, then it doesn't make sense to have Finnish language SW-version and downloading page. At least without proper warning that this important feature is not available.

I have an issue when i try exporting contacts from thunderbird as well as when trying to export mailboxes. I have most of the folder names and contacts in greek and whenever i try to export them they look jumbled and unreadable. The english ones look fine as do the special characters, but the greek typing in the folder structures and the contacts is just a garbled mess.

Is there anything that can be done to mitigate or resolve this other than manually renaming everything?

Hi Why are mycket folders on mycket email account in different languages ? Some are in swedish and som are in english for exemple inbox is in english and sent is in swedish Every time i do a new email account its the same This was happen after the last update this week everything was working before last update Please fix this regard manfred

今日Thunderbirdのメーラーを開いたらメールフォルダが英字表記に変わっていました。 具体的には「受信トレイ」は日本語のままなのですが、「送信トレイ」が「Sent」になり「迷惑メール」が「Junk」に変わるといった感じです。 受信トレイ以外はすべて英字表記になっています。 設定にある「言語とフォント」は「日本語」のままで変更はありません。 元に戻す方法をご存じの方がいましたら、ご教示をお願いいたします。

After I installed Thunderbird the day before yesterday and set the language to Dutch, the default folders (such as trash and sent are now displayed in English, while on the server side, these folders are in Dutch. So e.g. instead of Prullenbak it says trash. I also have Thunderbird on another laptop, but those folders are in Dutch, both local and on the server which seems to be logical to me. Why is the language of these default files different on both laptops, and why can't I change the language for the default folders on the latest version I downloaded? Does anyone have an answer?

How do you remove English (US) from defaulting on my emails. It is so annoying and would like to just have English (GB) (UK) whichever is more compatible with Thunderbird. Thank you

Die Ordnernamen im POP3 Konto sind plötzlich englisch: Drafts statt Entwurf Templates statt Vorlagen Sent statt Gesendet Archives statt Archiv Trash statt Papierkorb. Wie kann man auf deutsch umstellen?
