Hello, I'm running FF 124.0.2 64 but in Win 10 on a PC. I have the bookmarks right across the top of the page; the sixth from the left at the moment is Seloger's website. If I have a tab open looking at a TV program website and right click on a link to see more details in a new tab, the new tab opens ok, but the TV program website is overwritten by the Seloger's website. If I use the "previous" arrows, it reverts to the TV program site. If I change the order of the bookmarks across the page, the TV program website will be overwritten by the bookmark then in the sixth from left position. This is driving me mad. How can I force FF to stay with the open tab and not change it by itself?

When I opened Firefox web browser it did an update today, and since then I cannot find my bookmarks, sign ins or passwords. I need help here and I am not very tech savvy at over 72 years old.

previously I added bookmarks to a menu bar at top of firefox. Now I have a bar that displays 2 bookmarks than a >>. I cannot expand this limited display or create a menu to display bookmarks though I can see them by clicking on the >>. Non of the menu suggestions is a fix.

Does anyone know how to control this and get me a more useful bookmarks menu display?

I wanted to move the Firefox's automatically created bookmark folder "Other Bookmarks" into another folder (called To Sort folder). The folder was moved to the new location but it also remained in the "root" bookmarks folder. I tried to get it to be the other way round so that the "to-Sort" folder will be in the Bookmarks folder but- Trying to move it back it created a loop. Now when I go into the Other Bookmarks folder I can see the "To Sort" and it has a folder in it called "Other Bookmarks", which has the repeated same links and again the "To Sort" which has the "Other Bookmarks" which has the "To Sort" --> etc. ad infinitum

I've been using custom icons for all of my 36 shotcuts on Firefox start page. Today I opened Firefox and my icons are gone, Firefox slowy created its own ones and now I can't refresh them to bring back my own, despite there are my links pasted into entry. It's really time consuming to bring back old icons one by one, I have to upload each of them again to get new links, because somehow Firefox sees old links being in use and there's no way to refresh preview of them. Please give me faster method to bring back my old setting, I really hate changes so much!

Hi, thank you for being there. I have a strange problem that started a while ago. Every time I restart the computer to refresh it, all my bookmarks and log-ins change. It seems as if they are set back to an old version, but I can't even remember ever having a setting like this. A lot of bookmarks folder are gone all together and others only have a few bookmarks left in them. I suddenly have to enter passwords to get into my email accounts. Even stranger, after a while it all goes back to my current setting without me changing anything. This can take days or weeks. All this makes me nervous about restarting my computer. Please understand that I am not a computer wiz, so if you send me complicated instructions on how to fix this, I probably won't understand them. I hope there is a simple explanation for this. I use the firefox browser on two computers and the sync of the bookmarks is enabled. On one of this computers dont work the sync of the bookmarks. I get no errormessage if I press "now sync", but I dont get the bookmarks. Could you help?

I am travelling. I used a public wi-fi and norton VPN most recently. All my bookmarks are missing, altho they did appear on the toolbar briefly in the background. So where do I find them to restore them to the toolbar?

I have to install firefox new everyday on a library computer, (short answer mine was stolen and I can't replace it for now).

Anyway used to have no problem I would go in install firefox sign in and my bookmarks were repopulated. Today I installed firefox and nothing. No bookmarks, no add ons nothing its like a blank install with new profile.

I do not have a backup saved profile on this computer as it is a virtual machine and each day when it shuts down it wipes the programs and data installed. Because firefox repopulated the bookmarks each day when I re-installed it I was not aware I needed to create my own backup I assumed that it was just something in firefox that worked well and another reason why I prefere to use it.

Until today it was not an issue once I signed in everything would re appear but today its all gone. Is there anyway to recover this as it is very important that I do. I use these bookmarks a lot.

I have many rare bookmarks. This time I sell my old laptop and rent another laptop. The laptop rental a strange windows version (probably a hack one) and some strange apps (like 360 what what), I uninstalled the 360 what what apps. Then I downloaded and installed firefox and open all bookmarks become 365whatwhat. I did not care it so much, I logged in my firefox account, but the bookmarks did not change! I click sync, all the bookmarks are still 365 or 360 whatwhat. All my previous bookmarks are lost. How to recover?

hello firefox support, i recently signed into firefox on desktop but now i cant seem to remeber the account password so after making a new password after clicking on forgot password ,will i lose my bookmarks and ad-ons and all the customized settings? pls help me in this situation i dont want to lose my data pls .

I've been using the same firefox (installed every update) for over 10 years now and a lot of bookmarks have been accumulated. They are from different sources for different reasons/subjects/interests etc... I think when I reached ~430.000 or something like that it really slowed firefox down in a way that even clicking on a folder in the "bookmark symbol bar" (the one underneath the URL address fiel) takes 2-3 sec to open up and show the containing bookmarks. In the bm-manager going from one folder to another also takes a few seconds. I've now deleted about 40.000 but no change it's still lagging. and deleting 1000 takes about 1h.

I've looked but so far I couldn't find another tool or a better way to manage all these URLs WITH their title.

I still want to keep them, but managing them has become so slow and tedious. So if you have any suggestions especially for other tools to manage them....

I also think the possibility to export only a part of them (selected ones, or specific folders) would be helpful; maybe also a tool to clean up the database? (like defrag did for harddrives?). or split it to differnt files? I don't know.

I know 400.000 bookmarks are extreme... but well....

I recently had to reinstall Firefox as my original drive died. I had used about:config to disable the bookmark bar favicons as I have a visual aesthetic I enjoy on my computer.

Now in 2024, it seems that all of the settings I previously used are no longer functioning when toggling them to false within about:config. They were browser.chrome.favicon, and, browser.chrome.site_icons .

Doing searches, all I can find are tips and tricks from many versions ago, some dating all the way back to 2007.

Does anyone know how, in the current version of Fires, which at the time of this writing is 125.0.3 to remove the favicons? I have attached a pic of the look I am going for, which is the default globe icon, instead of the annoying favicon. I tried the userChrome.css trick, but it completely removed the globe icon as well.

I know there has to be a new setting in about:config that will work, I just can't seem to find it.

Any help would be most welcome! And thank you!

I am using the latest version of firefox nightly. I notice this on another PC that shares the same profile. However one of my PCs doesn't take this long and it uses the same profile as well. It also seems that the pinned tabs are not loading correctly because I get errors with those pages too.
