I’ve been using TB for years without problems but since 30 Oct 2024 have not been able to send/receive gmail on my desktop computer. I get an “Add Security Exception” pop-up. Clicking on “Get Certificate” results in “No Information Available” and clicking on “Confirm Security Exception” results in “Send Message Error”. Strangely TB continues to work on my laptop! I notice that some other users have had a similar problem but I’ve not found a solution. Does anybody know the cause and cure?

With version 128, now when I open Thunderbird, I get a notification alert and sound for every new email. If I have 20 new emails, I get 20 notification alerts and sounds. Very annoying. The previous version would have one notification saying I have 20 unread emails. Much better.

There is no file or mailing list to select. I cannot find it anyway. I can add a contact, but no list. My account is a gmail account. Created the caldav address book, and my contact imported just fine.

I recently purchased a new computer and want to setup Thunderbird to use my ATT Yahoo mail account. I went through the automatic process and got an "incorrect information" message. I tried Yahoo's instructions and they don't match what shows up in the account setup in Thunderbird. I am stuck and need some step by step instructions to set this up. I am including the following information in case it may have triggered the problem.Yesterday, we had a Verizon outage, which may or may not be relevant. Both of our email clients stopped receiving messages, although it was possible to send. The Verizon network status message now says that "data service may be limited" for our area and for an area nearby the message is "Data, voice, text and wireless home internet service are limited" and "There is a known issue in this area and we are working on a solution. This type of issue takes us a little longer to fix. Most are resolved within 48 hours. You can check your network status again later for updates. Check network status." The other email client is working normally now, but wasn't for most of yesterday.

Yesterday, one Thunderbird profile was repeatedly asked for the password, but the correct password was not accepted. The password manager showed the failing password for the username to be the correct one. Last night and this morning, the identity remains correct and is still the default identity. Also, the outgoing server still seems to be correct. However, his morning, Thunderbird still asked for the password--but the password manager does not show the username or password in the list anymore

How do I restore the username/password? Or does that have to wait until Verizon repairs its problem? The other email client had been missing pieces that were suddenly restored with any action on our part. Please note that any reply has to use simple words and phrases--trying what I have described has maxed out my technical skills and knowledge. Also, two more notes: We do not want to use one general password for all at this time. Also, there does not seem to be any problem with the computer itself.

A delete button is not available for the 'read message' pane. In the older versions of TB around v60, I could have the same toolbar in the inbox and all the panes. Is there a way to resolve this annoyance. I had the upgrade to a later version because MS changed the security settings from 'Normal Password' to 'OAuth2' which apparently does not work with TB v60. Thanks for any help. I have been using TB for many years. btw, I also miss having the 'Account Colors' extension which is not available (or compatible) with the later TB versions.

My live.com accounts are no longer syncing as of 10/01/24. I tried changing the authenication method to 0auth2 as suggested and restarted my computer. Now instead of getting the notice that my password for my live accounts in incorrect, I get a message from thunderbird saying "The IMAP server imap-mail.outlook.com does not support the selected authentication method. How can I fix this? I tried changing my passwords to these 2 accounts and reentereing into thunderbird but to no avail.

The question remains: In Thunderbird, when I close the In Box, how do I re-open it? Seems to me there should be a switch either under View or Window in the Menu Bar. No such thing. Frustrating that accessing such a simple, common tool is (presumably) buried somewhere.

Today, the emails of one of my accounts didn't get deleted. So I looked for the setting, both under server settings and account settings. I can't locate it, it doesn't come up in the Search box. Was this setting removed?

I have an IMAP email addy that will not send or receive from my laptop since the update done Oct 28th. I get an error pop up message that says "The IMAP server securemail.webnames.ca does not seem to support encrypted passwords. If you have just set up this account please..." (I can't see the rest of the message and if I click on it, it disappears) All my other email addys work as before, it's just this IMAP one that no longer works, and only on my laptop - I can send and receive from that addy on my phone without a problem, but this particular email address is for my business and I often need to retrieve documents that reside on my laptop to send as attachments. I am able to access my incoming emails from the webmail option but it is clunky and not efficient to have to switch between that and Thunderbird email. Anyone else having this issue since Oct 28th? TIA for any help that can be offered :)

I'm trying to link a Gmail calendar. It started to work initially, then something went wrong and I had to start again. This time, in the Create New Calendar window, it says "The credentials you have entered were not accepted. Please check your settings."

I know the credentials are correct. I've tested them separately. The failed attempt may have left some junk behind. Is there some way to clear it? Thunderbird is up to date, version 1284.0esr (64 bit) on Win 10.

All of a sudden, without installing a new release, no change to settings, send does not work any more. Windows 12 TB 128.3 I push send, screens gets less contrasted and nothing happens. I bypass the problem by leaving the message, saving it to drafts and with my smartphone I srnd the draft! Something else happens since some time, do not know if it is related: when I open TB and go to inbox, it shows an inbox that's not up to date. After a minute it refreshes to the present inbox. I need help on topic "Outlook, PST, EML and local folders".

I have .. - Win 10, 64 bit - Outlook 2010 - current thunderbird, first time installed 10 days ago (newbie!) - a huge, locally stored PST file with a lot of folders, like "in_2014 / In_2015 / .. / Out_2014 / Out_2015"

I want .. - to have access to the mails in the PST with Thunderbird.

I did .. - read some information and found that there is no direct access - install ImportExportTools NG - tried to import "Via Outlook", but failed: "No profile found". I think Outlook 2010 is too old - install "Outlook Viewer" from CoolUtils. Opened the PST, exported a lot of EML-files, one for every single mail. - defined a "Local folder", called "in_2014" - copied the EMLs to this folder. They appear in the folder-tree of Thunderbird, but not as single "mails". I have to open (doubleclick) every EML to see the mail. - tried to "Import" the data (one by one / many together / from folder) to the local folder, but got a long error message with a lot a strange error-codes - tried to export data from PST to one single EML with many mails in it. Failed, the software does not offer this feature. - tried to "Import" the EML to a folder of a mail account. This was successful, but only the first step. - tried to move / copy the currently imported mails from mail-account to my local folder: failed again without reaction and without message.

What can I do now? How to get mails from a PST to a locally stored, Thunderbird readable structure?

I switched today from 115.16.1esr to 128.4.0esr

And now there is more whitespace between the folder-lines in the Folder-Pane. The font-size seems to be unchanged. As I have very long folder-lists, this is very annoying as they are now even longer to scroll.

Actually I can switch between those releases, meaning I can compare any suspected change.

How can I reduce the whitespace back to the size I had before ?

PS: I really don't understand why this was changed for existing profiles.
