I have just changed my Gmail password and now see this message when I log into TBird

accounts.google.com needs you to confirm access again to keep syncing with your account. Username: X@gmail.com

I send and receive emails on both pc and Apple devices. Only on the pc I get a message to login to closed email address. I am unable to do this. Need to remove this re-occurring pesty message. Please help with suggestions. Thank you

I need help. How do I troubleshoot TBird asking for a password that disappears when I go into troubleshooting mode? In other words, I can enter anything in for the password, or dismiss/close the pop up box, and nothing is effected by it. I still get all me email for all accounts. The only thing at the top of the box is a user name (pmruzicka). At this point, I have deleted the accounts that used that user name, including all info for the outgoing servers (even tho this password request pops up at TBird start). I have Disabled ALL extensions one at a time and the pop up still happens. I have set TBird to default them,e - pop up still there. I have unchecked the hardware acceleration box - pop up still there. I have no clue what else I could do at this point. I do NOT have a Primary password set. Can someone please help me figure this out? Getting tired of having to click off that pw box every time I start TBird. Thanks. Also, this has been happening through the last few updates of TBird.

Does resetting your primary password in Thunderbird only delete the usernames and passwords in Thunderbird or does it also delete the usernames and passwords in Firefox?

hello thunderbird, having problem accessing my emails, keep showing pop-up box requesting password. i am the only person accessing my email, therefore i dont wish to use password. is there a way i can use my email without the use primary password? thankyou mick

I set up a new account last week and need instructions on how to navigate and use this forum. I cannot find the question I posted. I got no email saying it was answered. I also need information about these codes I keep getting in my inbox after I've already logged in. I don't know what to do with them. I'm a newbie and need an instruction pdf if there is one. Thunderbird indicates that I'm not using a primary password and when I ask to see the password for my gmail account it asks for a PIN. I have no record of a PIN for Thunderbird. I'm instructed to go to setting>accounts to change the PIN. but cannot find it: settings>account settings lead me nowhere.

My old email address was [redacted] @USIWireless.com. I got a new email address: [redacted] @icloud.com I am trying to set up my new email address with Thunderbird and when I do the steps I get an error message. "Unable to log in at server probably wrong configuration, user name or password. I am using my new email address with its password. Not sure what to do next. I would really like to get my new email on Thunderbird. Any assistance would be much appreciated. Thank you for any help! Anthony Berka

For a week or two I haven't been able to send any email from Thunderbird. I use smtp.gmail.com as my outgoing server, and have it configured using SSL/TLS on port 465 with Oauth2 authentication. I first saw this on an older TB version, but have now updated to Thunderbird 152.0.1 on MacOS Sequoia 15.7.7.

When I try to send email, a dialog pops up saying "Enter credentials" for my account, then "Verify it's you". When I click on Next it asks me to "Complete sign-in using your passkey". I believe at this point another window is supposed to pop up and I can use a fingerprint to enter the passkey, but that window never pops up. I have tried 3 different default browsers: Firefox (my usual one), Google Chrome, and Safari. All behave the same. Firefox might be suppressing Javascript, but the other two certainly aren't.

Is there some system security setting that might be preventing Thunderbird from opening a window in the default browser, or does Thunderbird maintain its own record of the browser? Any other suggestions on how to get the passkey challenge to appear?

Something changed. I’ve tried to set up my old AOL email account multiple times using different default browsers, and the setup typically fails. Using Edge, I get “Edge: Too Many Requests” . Using Firefox, I get “Waiting for authorization in login popup…” and then the old rotating arrow. After about a minute delay, the Account Hub reports “Authentication error.” The Thunderbird Account Hub reports the outgoing server settings test good. I’ve changed my AOL email password, and have an AOL application password ready to use, but never get asked. I’ve turned off two-step verification in AOL, but same Thunderbird behavior. I’ve got multiple computers, and this issue is the same on all. I’ve had no problem adding a Gmail and SBCGlobal.net account. Thunderbird is 144.0.1 (64-bit) release. Windows 11 Home, version 25H2. I really don't want to give up Thunderbird, but I need this account badly.
