Thunderbird app logo has suddenly changed in my iMac tool bar to what seems a generic "app in construction" logo (check green capture enclosed). Not sure how and why this happened... Not sure I want to delete app and reload it as I may loose all mail data stored including mail boxes login data ...

As a previous Outlook Express (OE) user, I am very satisfied with Thunderbird; it has allowed me to upgrade my Windows system without major hassle.

However, there's one missing feature that drives me nuts: you can only have draft messages in the Drafts folder. This is different to OE and makes it hard for me to handle my day-to-day tasks.

I have always kept editable "drafts" in my many other folders as a way of maintaining audit trails of communications or transactions I have had with other people or companies. I use them as notepads to record phone conversations, financial transactions, and general notes. In effect, those "drafts" never get sent, but their content is nicely filed along with any email exchanges with those respective parties.

At the moment, I have to select 'Edit as New Message' in order to make a change, which then creates a duplicate in the Drafts folder. After my edit/update, I have to move that to my intended folder and carefully delete the older copy of it.

I have seen add-ons that allow full "wild west" editing of all messages, but that is not what I need, or want -- this type of activity is a definite 'no' in many organisations. Once a message has been sent or received then it should be immutable. All I need is the ability to maintain editable draft messages in arbitrary folders.

The British English Dictionary updated on 29 January and doesn't recognise simple plurals of nouns, words that were acceptable on 28th are no longer recognised and so on

I upgraded to latest Thunderbird 60.5.0 on Windows 7.

Works great, but the message filters don't run automatically.

If I go and run them manually, they do work fine, but they don't run automatically like the used to.

Haven't made any other changes at all -- just did the update.

They are still checked off...haven't changed them in any way.

A similar thread says that they sometimes don't work if you play sounds. None of mine play sounds.

Only Add-ons I use are Lighting and Send Later and MS Office 2003 Theme. I had NO Glass, but that was automatically disabled with this update as being not compatible.

What might have changed that the don't run now?

Hate to mention the other product, but MS outlook has the ability to 'allow in-cell editing' on most of their fields (view settings -> Other settings), and the ability to add custom fields to folders. Is there any way to do this in Thunderbird, or a plugin/add-on that will add this type of functionality. Currently I use TB for 90% of my email - I will be a 100% user if this is an option or could be added into dev for future updates. Thank you, JR

Recently I installed Thunderbird on my brother's desktop computer. He has vision problems and I was trying to help him by trying to use a free program name NaturalReader to tell him the sender and subject of his emails. He was using AOLMail but that program immediately opens an email if you click on it. Thunderbird allows him to highlight a line in the Inbox, but apparently does not (by default) copy the line to the clipboard where NaturalReader would be able to see it. The idea was highlight line, play it, then either delete it or hit the down arrow to point to the next email. If there is a profile option that could cause this to happen, please let me know how to use it. If not, this option would be valuable to have for the visually impaired.

Contrary to most questions on this forum :-) I wonder how to ENABLE the Compact Now message? I have ticked the box ‘do not ask me again’ and now the message does not show up anymore. I figured out I actually like that message to remind me to compact every now and then.

Both my wife and I use Thunderbird ver. 60.4.0. When someone responds to my email and changes the font to red so that the response can be more easily seen, I can see the red font on my computer. On my wife's computer it only shows as a black font. How can I fix or change her computer so that she may also see the response in red? Thanks.

When I reply / forward a mail, It displays the little arrow, but I want something a bit more distinctive. How can I colour code / change fonts / change background of the whole row of that email once replied?

A plugin would be acceptable if I have to take that route, or I hear rumour of an editable use .css file?

I receive and reply to emails in French. Since the update to 60.4.0 (32 bit) www.translate is not compatible. Can you please recommend an English/French/English translator that works with 60.4.0? If not, which is the most up to date version will work?

I have been trying to add a Spanish dictionary. I have been following the steps, but it does not show up. I used to have a Spanish dictionary, but it disappeared - maybe in an update.

1. I want the subject line in each email generated in a Mail Merge to contain the first name of its recipient, and I may wish the body of each email to contain that element as well as others. Surely I should be able to do that using a mailing list from my Address Book as the source of my recipients, without having to resort to the use of a separate CSV file each time!

2. I believe I must identify each element to appear personalized by enclosing it in double brackets, e.g., {{First}}. But that doesn't appear to work, and neither does {{First Name}}. What am I doing wrong?

I have several message filters set up for one of my email accounts, and would like to copy them to the other one rather than rebuild them from scratch. Is this possible? Thank you!

I use Thunderbird (currently 60.4.0 (32-bit)) with two separate profiles for many years. I had the profile switcher add-on, but it has disappeared today. I'm not able to access my other profile. I'm not well-versed in installing the add-ons, so trying to reinstall the original is not being seamless. The add-n typically show up in the three-dash Thunderbird menu on the main profile page.

I would appreciate help.

When I don't finish an email right away, I get a copy in the Draft folder. After completing the email, I expect the draft do disappear. It does not. It stays out there forever.

All of a sudden, I can't see emails that I know are there because the subject of a previous message in my inbox is underlined. I can find the emails when I search for them by putting in a recipients name. And when they show up the thread column exhibits a red flag (don't know what it means). HELP.
