after an absence of two months, I reopened my laptop, without updating Firefox 4.9. I installed Firefox 5.0 and since then Firefox is blocked asking to close down after earlier updates and preventing me from installing Firefox 5.0.
When I click on the Firefox icon on my desktop I receive the following error report: "Your computer must be restarted to complete previous update of Firefox. Do you want to reboot?

You apparently have Firefox checked in Tools > Options > Advanced > Update tab > Automatically check for updates to:. If you want to install 5.0 then you have no option other than to reboot to complete the update. Then you can install v. 5.0.
