Desktop Thunderbird no longer downloading from Yahoo email account to Inbox, but does Send messages out
Desktop Thunderbird no longer downloads mail from Yahoo though it did until 2 weeks ago or so. Now when checking for mail, I only see a "Local Folders: Checking Inbox for new messages" (screenshot) that eventually disappears after a while with no download. I can still send messages out from Thunderbird through Yahoo. I have done the "Please check the following before asking for support" : 1. I can log into my Yahoo account via the web and am using the same password 2. I only have one Yahoo account; all the other accounts work fine 3. I can send mail from Thunderbird through my Yahoo account with no problem 4. OAuth2 is active and can successfully establish a secure connection (screenshot) 5. Cookies are enabled with no exceptions (screen shot) 6. I do not use a VPN 7. Version is 151.0 (screenshot) 8. I checked the Error Console messages when Checking Inbox was active (screenshot) but do not understand it

Do you have an antivirus scanning new mail. Disable that. That security error is your anti virus (Norton) offering a self signed and unaccepted certificate into the chain of trust. (they do that a lot, and most require a manual input of them as a trusted provider using their own instructions. Personally I do not trust any antivirus with my encrypted communications, so I use Microsoft Defender. It does not play that game.)

Two days ago, everything started working. It looks like Yahoo had an issue and finally fixed it after a month. The iPhone Mail app also died when my desktop did and it suddenly started working again at the same time. I waited to see if the problem restarted, but it did not. So I think it was a Yahoo issue all the time. Basic Yahoo offers no support other than FAQs. I appreciate the response and will keep it in mind if it occurs again. The desktop does use Norton but the iPhone does not.
check the error console for errors mentioning Norton if it happens again. I had someone here this week using Norton and they needed to add a self signed certificate to Thunderbird to allow it to hack their email.
The only clue in that case was an error in the error console (ctrl+shift+J)
