Help with an error message about no disk/inbox space
I am getting this error message "Unable to write the email to the mailbox. Make sure the file system allows you write privileges, and you have enough disk space to copy the mailbox."
I definitely have enough disc space. I have been trying to archive old messages but that doesn't seem to help.
In The Olde Days (TM) when Thunderbird had plain-language file names I could archive the old folders, delete all the messages before a date I might reasonably need them (in this case I probably would have used 2024) and that seemed to clear it up.
However now all the folders are names with artificially created random characters, I can't tell what is what.
I've tried some things including restarting and some message archiving, but I have no idea how to further troubleshoot this problem!
Please help? You can also reach me at woodendoor@truthandfiction.com.
Thanks CJ

do you have an antivirus or some sort of streaming backup solution. Thunderbird can not write to the file. This could be because the local disk is full, especially if you have a laptop with a tiny SSD, but I would assume you would have mentioned it being full in your initial posting, so the next collection of reasons Thunderbird can't write to the file relate to file locking for scanning or backup or even waiting for the network to catch up for remote server file locations.
BTW2 I have no idea what you are on about file names, they are the same in my profile as they were 15 years ago. There have been a few changes, but none have anything to do with folder names.
I have the same issue. I have plenty of disk space. Usually, if I restart my computer, Thunderbird will work correctly. Also, sometimes when I try to delete a message, nothing will happen. I've had Thunderbird for years and, until very recently, it always worked seamlessly.
