Keep getting this on a number of websites. Most of them I have used for years. Can't give the websites as there are too many but some are pitchsidemanager.com, hattrick.org, skysports.com and sportinglife.com . Just four of at least 14 give the Hmm. We’re having trouble finding that site message. I use No Proxy and have my anti-virus turned off when I get the message. I have tried various other proxy settings but the same thing happens. The thing is that I have to keep refreshing the page until it does actually connect and that can take a good few minutes. Sometimes I have to restart the browser. Why is this happening since the last few updates?

Clicked all new tab and opened now issue. So what does the screenshot error say? So others can replicate the issue. And did you try PRivate mode to insure Addons were not the problem as well.

It may help when refreshing to bypass the cache by using one of the following : shift+reload button, ctl+f5, ctl/cmd+shft+r

I have had that or a similar message once or twice when trying to load Facebook.

Those are all betting sites that may be filtered by parental controls in your DNS, firewall or ISP settings.

You can use the DNS Lookup tool on the about:networking page to check for DNS issues.

You can open "about:" pages via the location/address bar. The "about:" protocol is used to access special pages.

zeroknight. They are not betting sites. They are online games. Two of them anyway. The other two are sports sites which I use for sports results and info. They have nothing to do with parental controls especially as I am the only one that uses the sites. Those are not the only sites affected and I am not listing them all. I also said that I have used them for years and not had any problems until the last two updates. It also happens when I use a VPN although one is not actually needed to access those sites.

Does it still happen in Troubleshoot Mode?

I disabled all add on apps and also used troubleshoot. Still have many sites that will not load until I have refreshed the page dozens of time. I even turned off the Anti Virus for an hour but that made no difference.

Does it still happen in a new profile? An easy way to test a new profile is to install Developer Edition and see if it happens there or refresh your existing profile.

You can use the DNS Lookup tool on the about:networking page to check for DNS issues.

What am I supposed to get from that? I pasted the websites into the Lookup box and nothing happened.

This is about checking whether Firefox can resolve a domain to an IP address. If you enter the Domain and click the Resolve button then you should see the IP or a NS_ERROR_UNKNOWN_HOST error.

Never mind. I removed adblocker ultimate and things seem to be working okay now. However when I try to find another adblocker the message I get is .That page is not available in your region. I guess now Firefox , or the adblock creators, is anti China as that is where I am working at the moment.

Nope. Spoke too soon. Still have the problem even after a refresh of Firefox. The thing is that the site loads when the page is refreshed dozens of times. It is not a permanent page block or whatever.

Now I have this error. Did Not Connect: Potential Security Issue

Firefox detected a potential security threat and did not continue to www.imdb.com because this website requires a secure connection.

Learn more… What the F is going on with FIREFOX? I am getting pissed off with F.F telling me what sites I can and cannot visit. IT IS MY COMPUTER.

You can create a new profile as a quick test to see if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works, you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

Did you try troubleshoot mode? I can load imdb without issue.

1. I already created a new profile and then problem is still occurring. 2. Just because someone else can load a site means nothing. The problem is with me not them. And yes I have done troubleshoot mode. Don't you read the previous comments I made?

Maybe try a different DNS service.

You can check the connection settings and possibly try "No proxy".

  • Settings -> General -> Network: Connection -> Settings

See "Firefox connection settings":

Thanks Cor-el But I have already used No Proxy. In fact that is the one I use all the time as the others are not helping.

My original post. I use No Proxy and have my anti-virus turned off when I get the message. I have tried various other proxy settings but the same thing happens. The thing is that I have to keep refreshing the page until it does actually connect and that can take a good few minutes. Sometimes I have to restart the browser.

Did you try a different DNS service? Try changing secure DNS over HTTPS (DoH) to "Off" or "Max Protection".

What is your third-party anti-virus exactly? Disabling may not be enough to stop it from interfering. Kaspersky can cause performance issues if you have "Inject script into web traffic to interact with web pages" enabled and don't have the companion browser extension installed.

I have tried then DNS and it is no use. I don't have a DNS provider anyway or if I do then it is not in that list. My Anti Virus is Avast which I have used for years. This is getting on my nerves now and I HAVE to keep refreshing the pages to get them to load.
