Hi,

I have had trouble getting some pages to reload, no matter how many times i hit reload button. (I even waited a half hour and tried again, with no success.)

How can i fix this? Is some setting of mine causing it?

Thanks for your help!

Is it the same page, same site, or what?

Hold down the <Shift> key and reload the page bypassing the cache.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Is the problem still there?

Hi, Thanks! Your tip to Hold down the <Shift> key and reload the page bypassing the cache is very useful!

I am not able to repeat the problem right now, so i am not sure whether the problem still exists when in safe mode. But i will save this info for future reference.

I just reviewed the info on using safe mode, and am wondering: did you suggest this step because you suspect it may be due to some firefox settings? Or one of my add-ons?

Both, and other reasons. If the problem goes away, that tells us one thing. If not, that tells use something else.

Hi, I just had the opportunity to try this again, at https://discussions.apple.com/discussion/create.jspa?sr=cmenu&containerType=14&containerID=2075&draftID=12918556

I first tried the shift-reload, which didn't work. :(

Then, I tried holding down the shift key as i started firefox, but it never asked me if i wanted safe mode— it just started as usual.

then i found this info in the support:

Click the menu button, click help Help and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.... Firefox will start up with the Firefox Safe Mode dialog.

Note: You can also start Firefox in Safe Mode by holding down the option key while starting Firefox.

So then i tried it with option key instead of shift.—I hadn’t understood that you meant by (Mac=options) to hit the option key! It worked this time.

Then i reopened the page by selecting it from my History. When it came up it gave me option of restoring the text i had previously typed, which i chose.

Success! I was able to post the question this time.

So the conclusion is that simply bypassing the cache did not work— i had to use safe mode! Is there a way to fix this?

Sometimes running Firefox or the computer in Safe Mode overwrites corrupt files, fixing the issue.

Try Firefox normally, it the problem still there?

Hi, thanks! I can't check yet-- have to wait until there is a similar occurrence. Will be back with my answer when that happens...
