I have several sub folders in the local folders and all of a sudden I can't find or see them.

I came to work this morning and noticed almost all of my folders are not available in Thunderbird. There is also no sent folder, archive folder, etc. The only folders available are the Inbox, Trash, and Outbox folders. When I log into our main server online, all of the folders are visible containing all of the information they should. When I check the View Folders option in Thunderbird, All is checked.

It is possible that something occurred so Thunderbird created another mail account with default folders.

Please read info here: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Empty_folders section 'Local directory setting'

In Thunderbird: Right click on mail account name in Folder Pane and select 'Settings' Select 'Server Settings' for the pop mail account

Bottom right, you will see 'Local directory' put cursor in that text diectory and use arrow keys to go to far right. Perhaps the mail account is showing an appended number eg:

click on 'Browse' locate the correct mail account if imap: C:\Users\User Account name\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\profile name\ImapMail\imap mail account name If pop... C:\Users\User Account name\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\profile name\Mail\pop mail account name

You may discover more than one mail account with same name, but the second one has a number appended to it. Thunderbird may be using that appended number mail account instead of the one with no appended number. then click on OK to close the Account Settings window.
