On starting Thunderbird I got an error message about write privileges, and disk space. I have lost messages from some inbox sub folders. Can I retrieve them?
I remember losing some email previously when I was using Outlook. That time it was due to compacting being interrupted.

what was the message?
Thanks for the reply. I didn't see the message but from looking on this forum I'm guessing it might have been "Make sure the file system allows you write privileges, and you have enough disk space to copy the mailbox."
when trying to fix things assuming what a message says it not acceptable. I do not know is a far more acceptable answer.
So I will assume you do not know.
Go to the help menu and select troubleshooting information click the show profile button in the profile section. Close Thunderbird.
In explorer delete the files panacea.dat, foldertree.json and session.json Restart Thunderbird and I hope something appears.
Thank you for your reply. I have done what you suggested above but unfortunately the missing emails have not re-appeared. I would be grateful if there was anything else you could suggest.
