I open Firefox with no tabs except the first one then search via Google, open the web page but a few minutes later the page goes.

As per the question, any new tab that has NOT been saved as a tab to open on starting Firefox has the same characteristics - that is, the active web page closes itself and the previous web page for that tab reappears. The desired page can be found with the 'back' arrow but it still disappears again after a few minutes. How can I stop the page being viewed from disappearing of its own accord? Windows 10 up to date and Firefox upgraded as well. This problem currently applies to only one of our Windows computers (not the one being used for this submission) because I don't want the question tab to close out on me.

Hi, try starting Firefox in Safe Mode by holding down Shift when you start it - Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode

After posting the original question it was found that the backspace (delete) was affecting other programs as well. Therefore reference to Microsoft Support was necessary and after some time on a 'chat' which was very helpful the technician was given control and found that a Mouse Setting (not obvious to me) was to blame so if the same problem has affected others reading this, then Microsoft Support should be able to help after inspecting your PC configurations. For me, problem now resolved.
