My firefox keeps crashing. I'll just be watching a Youtube video or something like that then it will crash. It has done this about 200 times since 30/08/2014. I will submit a crash report, but nothing ever comes of it. When I reopen Firefox, a window pops up and says that Firefox is already open, then when I close that window, another one says my Firefox profile (?) is missing or something like that. Then it opens normally. As well, when I see if it needs updates, it says it's up to date, even though the Firefox website itself says it looks like I'm using an older version of Firefox. On top of that, occassionally Youtube videos will just stop working (the screen will go all fuzzy and say that an error occurred), and lately it seems as though Netflix isn't working properly either, as when I open it it says it failed to load. Once I close an reopen firefox it will work, but I'm not able to browse through all the titles. Thanks in advance for your response.

When I follow the steps outlined in the linked article it says Firefox is up to date already.

I updated Firefox as per cor-el's provided link, however now when I'm on websites large portions of the page, if not all the page, will turn black and become unresponsive. In fact, this very page failed to load, so I'm typing this up on Chrome. As well, Youtube videos tend to freeze and crash in a similar manner to before when I did not update Firefox. On top of this, Firefox continues to freeze, albeit without the crashes and for not as long as before. Is there anything else I can try or am I stuck to using Chrome and Internet Explorer? Thanks.

could you go to the firefox menu ≡ > help ? > troubleshooting information, copy the contents of that page and paste them here into a reply on the forum? this might give us a clue what is going on...

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen or hold down the Shift key) to see if that has effect in case your security software is interfering.
