Why does Firefox find an old copy of a website in the cache, instead of downloading the latest version?

This has just started happening, after an upgrade to WIndows 10.

I update my personal web page weekly, and send out an email reminder to a distribution list.

Then I click on the link to the website link in the email, just to make sure that the site has been updated properly.

Today - for the first time ever - it kept presenting me with last week's version. Clearly it was getting this from the cache, because when I manually emptied the cache and clicked again, I found the current version.

But I have never before needed to clear the cache. What has changed?

I'm on Firefox 42.0.
