This problem started sometime this month. I've been surfing the forums for a solution. I tried everything I came across so far. The Icons are missing in yahoomail. I understand that might be due to missing fonts. I have 'allow sites to use their own fonts' enabled. I have the gfx thing in about:config enabled. I had no problem using my current cookies and cache preferences before, so I don't think resetting them is the solution. The fonts on http://fortawesome.github.io/Font-Awesome/ are also missing, in case that helps. This problem was famous in 2013, I don't know if attaching a screenshot adds anything, but please ask for one if it should. The logos are fine on Chrome, and I haven't played around with my server, DNS, firewall, or any of that stuff anytime in the past few months. I do access yahoomail via an HTTPS connection, so that solves nothing either.

I'd appreciate any solutions that don't include giving up my extensions, themes, or bookmarks. In case one of these methods is necessary, I am willing to give up the extensions and theme, but not the bookmarks.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Special icons are usually supplied by a font that is downloaded from the server (@font-face) as you might see by little boxes that show the hex code of the characters instead. If you have a font installed that covers this Unicode range then you may see a real character and not the little box with the CSS code.

Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own fonts.

  • Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced: [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"

You can check the gfx.downloadable_fonts.enabled pref on the about:config page and make sure that it is set to true (if necessary double-click the line to toggle its value to true). You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

Thank you for your response, but I already have tried doing both those things. I have "allow pages..." enabled. I also have the about:config gfx.downloadable_fonts.enabled preference set to true.
