This is the reader for the magazine reading service available to a lot of public libraries in the West - so no arcane piece of software. When I log into the service, it automatically opens in Mozilla (I have the latest version) so I don't get the zooming controls of the RB Digital reader, but the Mozilla ones, and they don't allow me to go beyound 300%, which is way too small to read the content of the magazines. Thanks in advance.

To increase the maximum zoom from 300% to 600% two changes are required:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste zoom and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Toward the end of the list, double-click the zoom.maxPercent preference and enter your preferred value, for example 600

(4) Double-click the toolkit.zoomManager.zoomValues preference, press the End key to move the cursor to the right end, then add

,4,5,6

(which corresponds to 400%, 500%, 600%)

and click OK

You can test in a new window (Ctrl+n).

Does that work?

Now... if you are using Zinio, this might be irrelevant because I believe it uses the Flash plugin. You can confirm by right-clicking the magazine and checking whether you get a context menu for Firefox (usually a long menu) or Flash (usually a short menu with the last line referring to Flash). Flash applications generally have their own Flash controls and work best with Firefox left at the 100% zoom level.
