While browsing a site, and reading info, an ad slides in from the right side. There is an X in the corner of the ad, but it will not close out. If I am browsing a site like Bergner's, Macy's etc., a big banner takes over the page and the page is useless. I have uninstalled Mozilla, Java and Adobe several times. I cannot figure out how to get rid of these ads. It's annoying. Note: This does not happen in Safari. Mozilla is my preference, but this ad issue is very annoying. Regards. Tammy Lagoski

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one. Windows 8 has antivirus built-in already.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Hi, you can try an ad blocker such as Adblock Plus, or if that doesn't help, you may have a malware issue, so try working through Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware.
