I'm using a few pages that need some time and a open connection to generate it's content (namely: A locally hosted AI). Accessing it from different desktop-systems works fine, but I noticed that Firefox Mobile (or Android) is terminating the connection as soon as my phone locks itself. Everything that the AI generates after is no longer displayed and I need to regenerate it. Is there a way/a setting to keep the connection open? So I can just set my phone to the side while the AI is generating?

Hi, Being that OLED and AMOLED screens have become more frequent in recent years (and seem to be coming to stay) I am perplexed by the seeming impossibility of finding a way to make Firefox more friendly towards these devices.

I would like to use Firefox with a true black theme on its UI that would waste less battery and go easier on my screen's long-time durability. However, not only do I find that there is no option to do this in-built on the app, there isn't even support for external add-ons or thèmes that could get the job done!

There really shouldn't be any reason why, even if the Mozilla team are unwilling to code the option into the default settings, it couldn't be done through a user-made theme.

Instead, the solutions I've come across seem to span from third-party apps that require rooting the device to modifications made directly by decompiling the APK!

I know this was more of a complaint than a request, but heavy battery usage is a *valid* reason not to use something like a browser, which is likely to accrue several hours of use each charge cycle.

This *is* something Mozilla should care about.

TLDR;

Please point me to a way of making the Firefox UI AMOLED-black that does not require me to mess with the internals of an APK or void my phone's guarantee.

Sorry for the essay.

Hey everyone,

I’ve been using FL Studio on Android FL Studio on PC, and I noticed that when I have Firefox open, the performance seems to drop—especially when playing back complex projects. Sometimes, the audio crackles or lags when I switch between FL Studio and Firefox.

I’ve checked my system resources, and Firefox does seem to use a fair amount of RAM and CPU, but I’m wondering if there’s a specific setting in Firefox that could help reduce this issue. Has anyone else experienced this? Any tips for optimizing Firefox so it doesn’t interfere with FL Studio’s performance?

Would appreciate any advice! Thanks.

Hi there,

I am using Fennec from F-Droid (build 1340020). I noticed that many Brahmic scripts on webpages are shown as boxes. I don't recall seeing this in early versions maybe years ago.

Notably all major scripts in India like Devanagari, Tamil, Telugu can not be rendered. However, Odia and Sinhala scripts are shown fine. Outside India, Tibetan script cannot be rendered either. However, SEA scripts like Thai, Burmese are fine.

Moreover, if I copy these boxes to the search bar, the actual content can be shown. The tab view can also show the title of the webpage correctly in Bramic scripts. And if I change the locale in the settings, the UI of Fennec app can also properly display the scripts.

To further debug, I went to the about:config and search for fonts. Unlike western or CJK scripts, the value of font.default of Bramic scripts is serif rather than san-serif. The default value of font.name-list of these Bramic scripts are just Noto Sans or Noto Serif. I tried to switch between serif and san-serif but got no luck.

I was wondering how to fix this issue. Thanks!

Sometimes in January/February, I noticed that most webpages appear zoomed in on my Google Pixel 9 Pro running on Android 15. I have tried toggling on Desktop mode to view content that runs off the screen, but this is not an ideal workaround. This issue might be related to a recent Android update because I noticed many display changes on my phone across multiple apps in January. I had hoped the recent FireFox update (version 136.0) would fix this issue, but it didn't. Text will overlap or run off the page. If I turn my phone sideways, the content will usually render correctly in landscape mode. But I normally use portrait mode, so I would appreciate this getting fixed.

Steps to reproduce: - Open Firefox on Android tablet. - Open some link on youtube, for example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1Od6jdlgso - By default, link becomes mobile link, something like https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=d1Od6jdlgso - Click dots menu. - Switch `Desktop site`. - Link becomes normal desktop youtube link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1Od6jdlgso - Switch to other application, Firefox should be opened in background. - Wait for some time. - Switch back to Firefox, which is in apps in memory list.

Expected result: Switch `Desktop site` is switched on, and youtube link is desktop link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1Od6jdlgso

Actual result: Switch `Desktop site` is switched on, but youtube link is mobile link, like https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=d1Od6jdlgso , and switch `Desktop site` doesn't work until you remove Firefox from memory and reopen it.

When using Firefox (for Android) on an older Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 (8.0") Android 7 Tablet. I see a lot of what I would describe as screen tearing.

I've included a couple images to show the problem.

Everything was fine until a couple updates ago (maybe 3 or 4). I keep hoping it gets fixed and I have download updates as they become available.

FYI... both the Samsung Internet and Chrome browsers both display fine. It does seem specific to Firefox. Also, newer devices seem to work fine.

Hi there,

I wrote a review for the Android version of Firefox after which I was re-directed to report the issue here. So for the last couple of months, I started to notice that Firefox (Android) lags/stutters severely when browsing through youtube, not watching videos, just scrolling through the video feed. Even after the page has loaded with all the videos, scrolling lags/stutters significantly, and it only happens when browsing youtube, haven't had this issue with any other site on Android using Firefox. I'm not using any extensions on Firefox in case that would impact it somehow.

I've updated and also re-installed Firefox on my android phone in the hopes that it may fix the problem, but unfortunately it didn't.

That said, I do use Firefox on my desktop, with plenty of extensions installed, and haven't run into this same issue with youtube.

Android OS version: 7.1.1 Mobile: SM-J250F (Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime Pro) Firefox version: Latest

Video preview of the lag/stuttering can be seen at the link below: https://youtu.be/zXBNmeC5IQY

Kind Regards
