Filters on IMAP account work too fast and emails filtered to local folder don't always include body

I am running TB 128.5.2esr on a new Macbook pro. I've recently been forced off POP into IMAP using OAUTH by google which now requires IMAP only with Google workspace emails. I have a somewhat detailed folder structure for all my incoming mail that benefits from TB filters.

At first I tried reconstructing this folder structure on the IMAP server, but it was a nightmare and did not work correctly.

I have finally found a solution where I filter all incoming email onto a local folder set. However am now finding that the bodies of the filtered emails are coming blank 50% of the time - most likely because the filter is executing faster than the IMAP will load the whole message.

Is there a way to delay the filter execution on the IMAP inbox so that when the filter executes it will copy the message headers AND the body reliably?

In case someone is wondering: this is not a network or connection issue. I am running on hardwired connection on fiber network, and the messages that make it or don't make it are randomly sized (small ones fail while big ones don't and vice versa).

Setting aside the POP vs. IMAP discussions, I will say that I miss POP because it allowed me to "catch" all my email in the gmail server, while using it as I saw fit on my TB/local computer. Now I'm required to mirror both - which is not helpful to me.

Thank you for any help.

I've received a couple of emails where in the email list they have text/plain et al where the sender's email address would normally be, and in the email window it says text/plain, charset=UTF-8. Can Thunderbird not handle UTF-8 in emails, or is it just in that part of the email?

I have replaced Windows 10 on my laptop with Linux Mint 22 Cinnamon. I installed Thunderbird and, with a little diificulty with passwords, have my gmail accounts working. However I have a freenetname email address which appears to be installed. However when I seek to use it I am asked for a password. I enter the password that I use on my desktop for the same account but it is not recognised. I looked at the saved passwords (on my laptop) in Settings. None are displayed for the freenetname account and I can't see how to install passwords here to, perhaps, solve the problem. Some help would be very welcome. Thank you

I previously wrote to the forum regrading an email "Junk" issue, and the question or problem was not answered. After much trial and tribulation, I have my email back.....however it does not work properly as it did before. And now, everything that comes through is already marked as "Junk." And I have to click the yellow ribbon to mark it as not junk. I'm not sure what I might've done, nevertheless, all I have is email automatically marked as junk. How do I fix this? I'd love to have my email back to functioning as it did in the beginning, but it seems the more I mess with it, the worse it gets. Help please anyone!

Thunderbird started crashing randomly about 2 days ago, however, after restart, it would remain running if I switched to troubleshooting mode. I removed an add-on from Bitdefender in troubleshooting mode.

Today I can't even open Thunderbird-- it crashes on launch. It won't launch even if I hit the Shift key or if I turn off antivirus.

Here is the most recent submitted crash report:

Crash ID: ⁨bp-b52cd345-636f-445a-ab4c-764ca0250114⁩

Can someone please give me guidance on what is going on and how to fix it?

Thank you.

When I click on the minimize "-" in top right corner of Thunderbird it does not minimize to the bottom left task bar as other programs do, but instead goes to the system tray (bottom right). Online help suggested I go to "Settings-General-Language and Appearance" and un-check "Hide system window titlebar". This appears to make no difference. How do I get this back to what it used to be?

I have been a Thunderbird user for over 10 years and recently my employer has started switching us over to Google Workspace emails. I'm trying to add the email to Thunderbird, but keep getting a blank gray screen (Image 2) in the Google pop-up after clicking "Allow" (Image 1). No error messages are displayed anywhere in the pop-up or in Thunderbird.

I have tried several times with no success. I've tried rebooting, same issue. I've tried disabling all the plugins in Thunderbird, same issue. I've let the screen sit there for over 20 minutes and nothing occurs. I even tried one-time hitting "Deny" and got the same blank screen.

As it is occurring inside Thunderbird itself, I have no way of telling what is going wrong. I know I am signing into my new Google account successfully as I wouldn't reach the page with "Allow".

Anybody know what I can do?

my wife's computer uses Spectrum webmail and Thunderbird to access her email. She uses Thunderbird all the time. Last night Spectrum did something so her password was deleted. We finally got webmail up and working with a new password, however, when she tries to access Thunderbird a message comes up and says to log into mail.brighthouse.com and put in the password. We tried this several times and the same message comes up without letting us use Thunderbird. Sorry we are seniors and this is driving us crazy,as my wife loves TBird.

Hi,

Someone sends me a calendar appointment for 11th of May at 16:30-18:30 and another at 18:30:20:30. I accept these appointments. In my calendar, they correctly display at these times.

When I close and re-open Thunderbird, the first appointment is now scheduled for 12th of May, but the second is fine. When I close and re-open Thunderbird again, the second appointment is now scheduled for 12th of May as well.

The times are completely different too.

I'm using Thunderbird 138 from the Arch Linux repositories but I've also tried the Flatpak package to no avail. I've tried setting my Timezone manually and using my System timezone to no avail.

GNOME Calendar, which is also synced to my Caldav server, displays the appointments at the correct day and time. The web interface for my mail server also displays correctly.

It's only Thunderbird that screws it up time and time again.

This has been going on for years and it is driving me insane. I can't use my calendar with Thunderbird because I keep thinking my appointments are at the wrong time!

Send help.

I want to save a PDF from Thunderbird under a slightly different name from what is already existing within the directory. This would save me from repeatedly typing filenames.

For example my directory already contains "version1.pdf". I want to save an attached file as "version2.pdf". To do this I first search for "version" and highlight the file. Then I want to just change the 1 to a 2.

But the moment I highlight "version1.pdf" in the file list, the REPLACE button is greyed out. Is this intended behaviour?

My problem is that every time a click on a folder, if I slide the folder up or down just a bit while clicking, it will move the folder into a sub-folder of the adjacent folder. Is there any way to prevent this by locking the folder order or disabling this function?

Some months ago, my email account with Cox.net (pop.east.cox.net) was transferred to Yahoo (imap.mail.yahoo.com). I was able to keep my existing email address ([email]@cox.net) but in the process, all my pop email at Cox disappeared from Thunderbird. I haven't had time to address this till now.

I have located all the "lost" email under the Thunderbird folder in the C:/Users subfolder. All the mail can be found under C:\Users\Dinger PC\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\ditb93lv.default\Mail. All the mail is in a subfolder called pop.east.cox.net and is either individual files (.msf) or located in separate folders with .sbd extension.

I tried moving the .sbd folders over to the currently active imap.mail.yahoo.com but after restarting Thunderbird several times, they still don't show up. Maybe because they are not on the yahoo server but just on my computer.

There has to be a way to recover these emails and get them into Thunderbird. Can you help?

I'm unable to send any email with Thunderbird on my new Windows 11 laptop. I've used Thunderbird for years and years on the old Windows 10 one, but it won't send anything with the new one. The version info it gives is "128.5.1esr (64-bit)". Whenever I try to send an email message, it waits a long long time and then gives a popup saying "Login to server smtp.mail.yahoo.com with username [email removed]@verizon.net failed." It gives me an option to enter a new password, and if I click there it doesn't let me enter the password again, just re-tries, again waits a long long time, then gives the same error popup. When I cancel, it gives a new popup saying to check the password and verify the 'Authentication method' in Account Settings. Authentication method looks fine, but the password (Settings->Saved Passwords) is empty (?? But I entered the password when I started Thunderbird and asked it to save it).
