How can I stop Google constantly interfering with my usage of other programs. It wants me to sign -in with my gmail a/c. Not interested. Only just happened. Have been using Thunderbird (and Firefox) without any problems for many years. I feel Google is trying stand-over tactics.

When I first installed thunderbird a couple of months ago I set it up for my vigin media and my google email addresses and it all worked fine. Then about a month ago it refused to send e-mails from my virgin media email address ( I can receive but not send). Virgin media said it was a password issue I had to use a third party e-mail address to log into my account and change the password. It has taken VM 3-4 weeks to create the new password for me.

However Thuderbirds does to recognies the new password. I removed the VM email address for Thunderbird and tried to reinstall it but I can't as it says the pass word is wrong. The new password works in outlook and in the google e-mail browser on my phone and tablet but not in thunderbird, so nothing wrong with the password.

I have read a blog from someone with a similar issue (except he could not receive emails from his VM address). He was recommended to create a new profile. I have done that and it still does not work.

 Any ideas anyone?

Issue began Monday 7/1 where Thunderbird would not receive new email from AOL. At times it would tell me to enter the password. But the p/w I entered was not correct so that made situation worse. Found "Saved Passwords" in Help->Settings where I was able to retrieve the -correct- p/w for one of the email addresses being actively used in Thunderbird and problem solved. When I went to find the correct p/w for the other email address, the account in "Saved Logins" was not there?? Was odd that the list did display email accounts I haven't used in years, but not the 2nd one that I use daily! I tried changing the p/w at AOL Mail, but that didn't work for either of my two accounts. Bottom line, why isn't lf82me@verizon.net showing up in the "Saved Passwords" in Settings?

Just for info this site works fine on other browsers on same machine, and on other machines. It is a Firefox issue.

Tell me how I can continue to use thunderbird with the above account and also Denis.Clarke.hotmail.com after September 18. I have 4 individual historic E mail accounts and thunderbird joins them together. What do you need to do? To deal with threat below.

I use Firefox to access my bank account, and it autofills the personal id number, and, when I click, the 6 digit code, which I allow it to store, because no one else has access to this PC. BUT, I had to take it in for repair, and give them my Windows login details. When I got the computer back, I went to the bank login page, and the autofill was a different personal id number. Does this mean that somebody used Firefox on my machine to login to their account? Or could a reboot have meant that Firefox randomly changed the PID number? Thank-you for your help.

Hi Cannot send emails via Thunderbird. Sending an email via grahamg.d@ntlworld.com failed (as do my others addresses - not tested this time) with message "Mail server responded - Authentication Code Require (VM401). can you help please? Dear FireFox, I am writing this E-mail to address a critical issue. So i wanted to set up a password for my firefox browser so that only I can access it. i set a primary password, and it asks me to enter the password when i open my browser. However, when the message appears asking me to enter the password, you can just click "cancel" option or press 'x' it ignores the password and lets me in the browser, essentially rendering the purpose of the password useless. thus anyone can access my browser. i request you to fix this problem. WHY is it that I can get into my email account through Thunderbird and download mail, but when I try to go into the account manually I can't? I go into the settings copy the password, then manually input it into gmail, but it says it's the wrong password? I am using MacOS 10.14.6, and Thunderbird 115.12.2 (64-bit)

It seems like a difficult problem, which no one knows how to solve, not even Firefox (?) The problem has existed for a while and has not been recognized and resolved by Fiorefox. Very simple and straightforward problem: open a web page, give permission for location (this is indeed set in the settings) and the web page can determine the location. After closing the web page and restarting it, the location is blocked again, even though the settings states that Firefox still has access to the location.

I have TB ver 115.12.2 64 bit. It reports as being up to date. During attempting to make the changes necessary to accommodate Microsoft's Modern Authentication I reach a point where the option to select OAuth2 does not appear in the Outgoing Server SMPT settings drop down menu, see the image. I do not have any ad blockers and have disabled "Block pop-up windows" in Firefox and turned off "Enhanced Tracking Protection" for sites but I still get the message that I am blocking ads.

I'm trying to setup MFA with DUO Mobile app, and I get past the part where I scan the QR code successfully. However, when it requests that I then enter the code generated by the app it rejects the code each and every time. My DUO app (on iPhone) is updated to the most current version as of today (6/30/2024), and my iPhone is updated to most current iOS version for iPhone 13, as of today. I am trying to access the online library website for my college. I had no trouble all week then all of a sudden I keep getting this message: "Unauthorized LTI Launch Request 401

I already changed the cookies settings to allow this website and my school's website. I don't understand the issue and why it popped up out of nowhere. I use firefox latest update on Windows 11. I do use a vpn but I used it the whole time, even when the site was working and I have tried turning it off. It doesn't help.

Are Firefox extensions sandboxed from the rest of the operating system? Suppose I have installed a malicious extension/add-on on my system. Would it be possible for the extension to access and tamper with my operating system? I do not care if it tampers with the browser tabs or data inside the browser as long as it does not have a way to tamper with my OS. Using MacOS Sonoma
