my wife's computer uses Spectrum webmail and Thunderbird to access her email. She uses Thunderbird all the time. Last night Spectrum did something so her password was deleted. We finally got webmail up and working with a new password, however, when she tries to access Thunderbird a message comes up and says to log into mail.brighthouse.com and put in the password. We tried this several times and the same message comes up without letting us use Thunderbird. Sorry we are seniors and this is driving us crazy,as my wife loves TBird.

I tried to connect to an existing Google-Mail account via 'new', 'existing mail account' etc.. Finally a Google-Login-Window appears. After inserting the username Google responses with a message, that my browser does not support javascript. However, both in thunderbird and in firefox javascript is enabled.

I set up a primary password, forgot it and set up another one, now neither work. I'm so fed up with Firefox i just want to delete it, but Mozilla support said do not delete the account without solving this problem.

I'd appreciate any help you can give.

I do use AVG and I have turned off the VPN while using Firefox to see if that helps.

Best

Hello, when I try to login to my outlook.cz mail account, I get error screen that says: Server error The server returned the following message: User is authenticated but not connected. I searched online and I found, that I wasn't the only one getting this error. Everyone solved it by disabling ipv6 in thunderbird. I don't know how to do that on phone (I found how to disable it on pc). I have another outlook.cz account that I am logged into and it works fine (I logged in 2 weeks ago). Is it thunderbird problem or should I contact microsoft. Thank you in advance for your answers.

I've been using Thunderbird for years to access my gmail account through my ieee alias. Sometime after 4/2/2025 my login fails with the message "Login to server imap.googlemail.com....failed". I've tried changing the imap server to "imap.gmail.com" but get similar results. For some reason, it appears that something changed on 4/3 that prevents a successful login to the gmail server from Tbird. I have both Tbird and gmail configured for OAuth2. Update: As it turns out, following the steps in this link resolves the issue: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1375558

I had a free email account with my previous ISP (big mistake!). I had to create a new email account elsewhere when I switched ISPs. All was good for almost two years but I just bought a new PC and have ported all my email accounts over to the new Thunderbird. It appears that everything is set up correctly but I have one annoying problem. The old email account is kept only to be able to look at old email (pre-new email account) from time to time. It is not even possible to sign into the old account but Thunderbird keeps asking for the password. Is there anyway I can stop it from doing this?

Thanks!

Hi @ all,

When using TB as a LDAP-User, logins.json and key4.db are NOT created on the (mounted) home directory.

here's my setup: Debian 12 with a local user as well as remote users, administrated via LDAP. PAM-login for local and ldap users has been setup and is working. Automounting of network drives is working. Each LDAP user has their home directory stored on a Fileserver and mounted upon login. All applications are working as intended except thunderbird.

So far I've tried to run gnupg locally instead of having it start a session from the (mounted) home directory, assuming that gnupg is the corresponding means of de/encryption. I've copied the profile of the local user to be used as the profile of the LDAP user, logins.json is completely ignored by TB.

Upon starting of TB, passwords are asked for and are remembered in the session. But passwords/logins are not stored and available for the next session.

Any ideas?

I have changed my passwords on 2 gmail accounts I import to TB. Usually when you do that and TB retrieves email from gmail, you get a credential popup because the password doesn't match. Usually when you get that popup you click "next" and put the new password in and everything works as it should. I have been messing with this for 2 days now. I get the gmail credential popup, but when I click "next" to continue, I then get an error 400 from google? You can't do anything else after that. That darn popup just keeps coming and coming every time TB tries to retrieve email. Anyone else having this issue and found how to fix it? Is it a TB issue or gmail/google issue?

My host institution recently made a contract with Google and now we all use Google Workspace; our institutional e-mail server (Zimbra) is replaced with GMail. My full emailadress is the username, and then Google forwards one to a log-in-page of the institution via OAuth2.

At the institute I use Thunderbird on WIndows, and it is able to access the new account, as expected.

But here at home, where I use Linux Mint (Ubuntu/Debian based), also with Thunderbird, it doesn't work. I think the configuration is correct (it is identical to the one I use at the workplace) (first attached screenshot)

But when it's supposed to open the institution's authentication window, it gets stuck in a previous step, which is the Google window that should pass/redirect to the institutional log-in window via oAuth2. (second attached screenshot)

But instead, from here it goes to an unknown error, according to Google. (third attached screenshot)

I don't know what functionality I possibly haven't installed or activated in Thunderbird here at home, but which is functional on Windows? Or whether some security/privacy switch of Thunderbird or Linux' firewall or whatever, is 'on' and is blocking the redirection to the third-party log-in window?

How do I (in)activate or change what needs to be (in)activated or changed? Any ideas? Where can I look for this information? I scanned the questions on OAuth2 here, and none seemed related to what I experience.

It's important for me that I access my work email from home. Please help.
