You can try to disable forcing a secure connection in Facebook.
Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
- Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
- Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
I followed the instructions and it worked last night and today I have the same problem. Is there a permanent solution and what causes this to happen, I am not accustomed to have problems when logging in with FF

Indeed rather a rare error code, but it also happens with a combination of Firefox 26.0 and Kaspersky Endpoint Security 188.8.131.521 (a.b.c.d) when "Web Control" is enabled. I had to stop Kaspersky "Web Control" to make this problem disappear!
Thank you for the advice, I do run Kaspersky and will disable it to see if this will work and report back so that if there is others that are experiencing the same problem can also bennefit from this advice
You're welcome, hope it helps you out. Just to be sure, of course I did not disable all of KAV, only the "Web Control" function. Good luck with your troubleshooting.
