The issue has been resolved in Firefox 10 which is scheduled for release in a few days from now. This may happen if the system is missing either Visual C++ 2005 SP1 or the .Net Framework 3.5 SP1. You can try the pre-release Firefox 10 beta: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/channel/ or download and install either Visual C++ 2005 or .Net Framework 3.5 SP1.
