I updated to V4 but firefox will no longer open when I click on the icon. I can see that the process has started, but there is no browser display. Stopping the process and trying again does not work. Please advise

Prior to updating to V4, firefox worked perfectly with all my existing applications. After I updated it will not launch a browser page, even though the process is shown to be operable in the Task Manager. The same problem occurs on start-up of my computer, so there are no previous processes running. I cannot launch the broswer at all so cannot try clearing the cache etc or other suggested troubleshooting solutions.
