Firefox updated and now it refuses to connect, even though IE still does. I've tried removing and restoring the exception, making sure that it isn't running on a proxy, disabling add-ons and themes, and uninstalling/reinstalling, but it still refuses to work.

Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox.

I tried that, still isn't working.

In Firefox 3.6.4 and later the default connection settings have been changed to "Use the system proxy settings".

See "Firefox connection settings" in Server Not Found - Troubleshoot connection problems

You can find the connection setting here: Tools > Options > Advanced : Network : Connection

If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then select No Proxy

I already tried that.

Same here. Using Vista. Firefox was updated and now it won't connect. Not only will not not hit outside URLS, I'm also unable to connect to my main router IP or the local http/ftp server I have running in my house. I've checked the proxy settings, I've tried re-installing firefox, and I've also tried rebooting the system. Nothing appears to work.

In the meantime, IE7 is doing the job. Any suggestions would be great, I'm out of ideas and need a new angle to approach this at.

System Restore didn't fix this, either.

I have this same problem and have also tried all the things listed in previous posts. I have this same problem with other applications, but not all. IE works fine, but Thunderbird, itunes, Google Chrome. It is very odd.

For me, this has been going on for several weeks, I know that after installing a Thunderbird update, it no longer worked, I'm guessing the same for Firefox, but I can't be so certain.

Since I do have other apps not connecting, I must have some other issues, but like I said, I know for a fact that after upgrading Thunderbird, it no longer worked.

This is all very annoying, I don't like IE and don't want to use it anymore!

Does anyone from Mozilla monitor this support page?
