Hello everyone,

I want to log into my university-related email account with thunderbird, to have all my emails in one place, and to be able to send emails from my "official" student email. I'm stuck on entering my password, because to log into the account in a browser, one has to go via the institutional login of my uni (Uni Freiburg, Germany). So instead of assigning a specific password for that email account, it redirects you to the university-wide login page, uses your username and password that you access all other uni-services, and then directy you back to the email-account.

So if I enter the password that I would enter on the uni-wirde login page, it tells me it's wrong (i've of course quintuple-checked this).

Do you have any experience or are familiar with cases like this? Do you think it's possible at all to log into my uni-mail in thunderbird?

Thanks!

I spent several years managing a large university help desk. My suggestion is to first contact them, as I am confident you are not the first to do this. They should have everything you need to achieve your goal. You may still get assistance here, but they should already have it written up. Good luck.
