Forwarding to bcc in filters

more options

I need to forward messages to other people using the bcc field because of privacy. However Thunderbird filters don't provide this option. That is, if I fill the option "forward to" with a few email addresses, everybody will receive my email where all the recipients are visible. How can I solve this drawback? (of course I don't want to forward the same message as many times as required for each recipient!) TIA Alberto

You might want to investigate the mailmerge addon, as I believe that may address your issue.

Thank you very much for your suggestion.

I investigated the mailmerge addon and I think that it is a very good piece of software and (actually a plus!) it is updated so you can use it with the most recent releases of TB. I'll keep it in mind !!

However i must admit that I'm not so smart to use it or I can say that it has too much options and it is too much complicated for my needs ... that is ... I believe it has a too steep learnig curve for my needs.

Actually I want that the filter does the job for me (that is, it has to take a given mail and forward it always to the same recipients), but if I use this mailmerge addon (very sofisticated, no doubt) I must every time build a new draft after choosing which email I want to forward to someone else.

Of course I'm telling my thoughts because I believe that the addon you suggested doesn't fit for my needs, and I hope my explanation could be useful for any other user that has the same problem.

Therefore now I'm still back at the starting point... actually it should be very simple to add to the filters options the choice between forwarding to (to or cc some recipients) and forwarding to (bcc to the same recipients).

I'm really sure that this is a necessary feature, but maybe it is not so simple to include it in TB ... who knows...

In the meantime I'll still keep on waiting some other suggestion .... and I hope that somebody will find an easy way to solve my problem...sooner or later ...

Thank you again for your kind suggestion. Best Alberto

Well, if it were a necessary feature, it would already be there. And, you're wanting to send to a blind address. Thunderbird cannot do that, and the internet SMTP servers can't do that. Mailmerge 'might' allow you to send separate messages to each. Good luck.

David, Please explain why SMTP can't forward to BCC addresses. When composing a new email, of course, it is possible to send BCCs. When I manually forward an email I can definitely add BCCs to the message. This sounds like it is a limitation with the Filters function in TB, NOT SMTP.

I've never heard of this before, and it seems counter-intuitive.
