Auto Update never works

I've installed Firefox on dozens of different PCs. (Windows 7, 8.1 & 10) Although they are always set to 'Auto Update', they never do. If I click on "Help / About" there's a good chance it will say "Firefox is out of date - click here to update." This has happened for years on dozens of PCs. How do I get Firefox to update without the users intervention?
