I have mozilla firefox start page as my home page and google as search engine. On a 32 bit virtual windows 7 system I cannot search. I get

Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at www.google.com.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

If I change to google uk in address bar then i can go there and search. It works ok on host which is win 7 64 bit
