After performing a Firefox "Refresh", all bookmarks were lost. The bookmarks "Restore" feature is also failing. Please advise

I was prompted to Refresh firefox due to slow startup. Upon Refresh completion, my bookmarks including the bookmark toolbar were empty. I initiated a "Restore" on my bookmarks from the two most recent dates, and both failed with an error. Please advise.
