I am on Ubuntu 20.04.5 LTS and really dislike when Firefox updates and I am in the middle of some work and I get this "Firefox has upgraded in the background and needs to restart".

I enjoy my privacy, so I start my browser with the "Delete cookies and site data when firefox closes" and "Always use private mode" set. This means when the browser restarts, everything is gone.

Why can't this be disabled? My laptop checks updates every day and I install them. Why can't I get a notification that an update is available so I can download and install at my choosing?

Firefox always uses excessive GPU memory when I watch video and livestream. about:memory shows that the explict GPU memory allocation is only about 200 MB but in the task manager the GPU memory usage is 1GB, and the latter doesn't decrease even if I close the tab. I suspect that this is a memory leak. I searched for Bugzilla and found a similar issue that has been existing for years: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1386177

So, it looks like snapd went ahead and updated my Firefox.... Grrrrr

Now I'm unable to access my profile information. (passwords, tabs, extensions, history, etc)

When I try, I get a pop-up telling me that using an older version if Firefox can lead to profile data corruption. However, I'm trying to use FF version 109.0.1 (64-bit), which should be very new.

How can I get my profile data back?

I'm trying to perform the clean reinstall for Firefox on my computer. But, I see the instructions for the uninstall, Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:

   Windows: (Note: Check both folders.)
       C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
       C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox 

Being I'm not computer wizard I had trouble finding the location of such folder. But when I accessed my program list in my windows program list I see a program named Mozilla maintenance service. When I click on that I see a format/window to "uninstall C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Maintenance Service\." Is this the program/folder I need to uninstall to complete the proper instructions I need to perform a clean install? If so, when I delete it I then reinstall Firefox once again after the uninstall procedure? Is performing the uninstall procedure going to screw up my Firefox browser and my many bookmarks I have accumulated over the years? Can someone please help and explain? Thank you.

Since the last Firefox update I'm not able to retrieve "Recently Closed Windows or Tabs" from history. Is this a coincidence or is there a systems issue? Is there something I can do to fix it? If I can't fix it what s/b my next action?

On several sites, e.g. Lowes and Kroger, I receive the message: Access Denied You don't have permission to access "http://www.lowes.com/store/" on this server. Reference #18.56ed0117.1676583603.8ee0aa7. I have to clear cookies and cache each time I do a search within a particular site so this is not a solution. I don't have this problem using the Edge browser.

It started with LastPass a few months ago. The extension would often, sometimes once per day, disappear from the toolbar and stop responding to login forms. To make it return, I would have to go into the extensions manager, disable it and re-enable right away. I thought it was just the LastPass extension and was gonna reach out to them. But then the hack was reported so I migrated to Dashlane. But now Dashlane is disappearing the same exact way. Every day. This happens with no other extensions, only LastPass a few months ago and Dashlane right now.

There was a minor Windows update on my work Windows 11 Ent laptop which I did and it restarted after which FireFox doesn't launch.

I am sure my sys-admin did not restrict this.

FIREFOX WILL NO LONGER DISPLAY DATA AFTER THE LAST TWO UPDATES. i GET THE 'VCRUNTIME 140_140.DLL (NOT FOUND)" message. If I made changes like, making the duration of unloading tabs to be 1 minute and turn ON the unloading tab feature, it still doesn't respond to any changes made to the browser. SmoothScrolling when changed in about:config won't work too.

I use firefox as my browser and to operate my 3d printers web interface, on my local network

with firefox the data that the printers display is very slow to update, for example if i input a movement command of say 10mm firefox takes at least a few second to display the number that corresponds to the movement change, its definitely firefox as opening the very same machine and sending machine commands in any other browser does not result in a data lag.

I have a website kiskigarden.com, and I recently changed from being a forwarding, to pointing to the right spot on my server. The website works fine on edge and chrome, but it come up with the redirect still showing in the URL bar and causing a 404 situation.

I need to fix this for my client kiskigarden.com, not just on my computer, but on all computers that someone might be using a Firefox browser...

IS there a way to make firefox update it's indexing? Thank you!

I'm running on a Mac with current OS and default settings for Firefox. However, many websites -- and here I'm talking standard corporate stuff in US English -- are substituting a y with an umlaut for "fi". It's not happening in for all, but it's happening a lot.

Please see attached. No matter how many times I correctly typed "Office", it rendered as pictured. I also see this with downloaded HTML, i.e. not just me entering it, just the simple rendering of a webpage.

Any thoughts on what might be the issue are much appreciated.

I tried to Connect Dropbox to my desktop, but the page would not load.

Chrome has no problem loading the page.

Could someone please let me know if they have the same problem

I've been encountering crashes when opening the trackers modal in the url bar, when opening the devtools console and when attempting to open proxy settings on my current configuration. This does not happen on a "fresh" configuration profile what so ever. Tried on both my desktop and laptop computer, it occurs on both.

My problem with this is that i have no clue what so ever to what could be causing this. It is not a system issue since it does not happen on a fresh profile and it is neither a quirk of any of my computers.

I am currently running Windows 11 22H2 and version 109 on both of my machines. As far as i know this has been happening to me for at least a few months now. I tried to troubleshoot this issue before but I ended up giving up on that.

If there is any specific extra setting(s) that i should provide, please let me know!

First. I was unable to view the daily broadcast @democracynow.org

Next, I have been unable to login to multiple sites including, Lowes.com, samsclub.com, my synchrony.com/home

I have tried logging in with and without my Torguard vpn service, with all extensions disabled and enabled, logging in with the VPN active has been pretty common with bank sites especially, but until now, turning off the VPN restored access.

And what really pisses me off is that they all work with edge which i do not like to use and now I'm forced to.

Please let me know why this happening and how to fix it.

After using my firefox browser for a period of time, the screen will blank from whatever page I'm viewing to a totally white page, then within seconds turn to a black page, and is not recoverable without closing and then opening a new browser page by clicking on the firefox icon pinned to my taskbar.

I'm using the latest Windows 11 22H2 (22621.1194), And latest Firefox 109.0.1, I'm having this bug for a nearly a year now that when I switch to fullscreen mode, there is a gap between the video and the edge of the screen.

After some discussion on the bug report we found that this only happens with Windows 11 and Two monitor at different refresh rates, I have 165hz and 60hz, If I disconnect one of the cables the bug vanishes, And if I exit fullscreen and enter again the issue is gone.

The bug happen on ANY video on fullscreen on ANY website, Or in F11 fullscreen mode.

Tried to report this at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1770478 bug after 9 months they didn't fixed it YET!.

Tried to fix with userChrome.css but I don't know how to theme firefox, So didn't managed to fix it.

Can someone fix it please?

The issue does not happen on Troubleshoot mode, Exited Troubleshoot mode and disabled all extensions but it still happens.
