3.6.16 doesn't support Mac PowerPCS so some video content will not load

I am running Mac OS 10.4.7 on a Mac Mini Power PC. Firefox 3.6.16 does not support Power PCs (i.e. pre Intel). Video content on many sites will not load using 3.6.16 and I cannot use this version of your browser. I am happy to keep using 3.6.12 which does support Mac Power PC but 3.6.16 keeps downloading automatically even though I have set Advanced controls in Preferences to not do this (unchecked the three boxes enabling auto updates). I am extremely unhappy about this. Can you tell me some way I can stop 3.6.16 from automatically downloading and updating my browser against my wishes?
