Hello,

For the past several weeks, Firefox keeps crashing randomly when loading new web pages. It shuts down the whole browser window, not just a particular tab at a time. In the past few days, it has also started to crash when a web site has already been loaded.

I have deleted all history and have only kept my bookmarks and the following extensions but it still keeps crashing: - Facebook Container - Ghostery - Privacy Ad Blocker - LastPass: Free Password Manager - uBlock Origin

I also have two disabled extensions. Not sure if they would affect anything?

Is my next step just uninstalling and reinstalling all extensions? Please let me know what else I could try!

Thank you in advance!

Liz

In the address bar, type about:crashes<enter>. Note: If any reports do not have BP- in front of the numbers/letters, click it to submit them.

The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

Using your mouse, mark the most recent 7 - 10 Submitted crash reports, and copy them. Now go to the reply box and paste them in.

Hi FredMcD, Thanks for the reply! It looks like I only have 3 crash reports since I cleared all history:

Hello,

Just checking in if anyone has had a chance to look at the crash reports. I've had Firefox crash several times since I made the above post, but it doesn't seem to be making any new crash reports as I still only see the three I posted above.

Thank you for your help!

Liz

Hi FredMcD, thanks for keeping me posted! In the mean time my Firefox has crashed several times but does not seem to store any new crash data. I still only see the 3 crash reports that I posted earlier. Wondering if I should try to uninstall and reinstall in the mean time?

You are several versions behind. Version 80.0.1, first offered to Release channel users on September 1, 2020

Did you want to stay with your current version? Firefox 79.0

I'm on Version 80.0.1 since yesterday I think but it still crashed several times today.

Please check this setting: Type about:preferences#advanced<enter> in the address bar. Select Data Choices. Turn on Enable Crash Reporter.

Note: For Firefox v56+ its; about:preferences#privacy Under Firefox Data Collection turn on Allow Firefox To Send Crash Reports.

How long before the browser crashes? Is this with all websites/pages, some, a few?

What were you doing at the time? surfing, watching a clip, reading something . . . .

more options

The option to allow Firefox to send crash reports has already been enabled but I still have no new crash reports.

The browser crashes within minutes of launching. It is completely random. For example, just 5 minutes ago I was checking the add-ons page and it crashed within 10 seconds of looking at it. When it crashes, the whole window just disappears (not just a tab at a time). Relaunching is quick and it will restore all tabs immediately and often remember that I am already logged in. I think it most often crashes when opening a new tab and starting to type in a partial web address before even starting to load a page, but sometimes it will crash a few seconds after a page has finished loading.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
