See:

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

You can try to modify multi-process settings to see if this has effect.

  • set number of content processes to 1 if it is currently set to a higher value (4)
    Options/Preferences -> General -> Performance
remove checkmark: [ ] "Use recommended performance settings"

Hi, please try this : SAFE MODE

In Firefox Safe mode these changes are effective:

  • all extensions are disabled (about:addons)
  • default theme is used (no persona)
  • userChrome.css and userContent.css are ignored (chrome folder)
  • default toolbar layout is used (file: localstore-safe.rdf)
  • Javascript JIT compilers are disabled (prefs: javascript.options.*jit)
  • hardware acceleration is disabled (Options > Advanced > General)
  • plugins are not affected
  • preferences are not affected

Thank you for your reply, guys. But my Firefox is still very slow, especially when I turn on my PC. I run Win10, but the slowness persisted even in Linux Ubuntu. So, I think it is not depending much on OS. Firefox responds fast when I start it in Safe Mode. I disabled all add-ons in normal mode, but still its response rate is very slow when compared to Google Chrome. I want to write one additional note here, which I think may help you in finding the source of slowness, my notification shows this message: "Application has been blocked from accessing Graphics hardware. Application firefox.exe has been blocked from accessing Graphics hardware." Thank you again for helping me.

Hi, next time before posting a question : Please consider turning on send info to Mozilla before posting a question. You also may have to adjust A/V or Firewall also. As With info sent we get your Extensions, your video card Drivers and what shape they are in.

Your above reply : Application firefox.exe has been blocked from accessing Graphics hardware. Is 2 things in Win 10 ( no idea for Linux other than 2nd part ) Please : Use the Windows key + X keyboard shortcut to open the Power User menu and select Command Prompt (Admin).

Copy/Paste the following command and press Enter:

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Reboot after.

Please Search for Device Manager and check if Win 10 has changed your Video Card Driver (and maybe others) to a Microsoft Driver from 2006 or so. If Not regardless you have now your Video Card Information please go to the maker of the cards Site and download what ever you can for it. If new, keep it updated. If old do what you can. Then do this :

Out of date Hardware and Software with corrupted Drivers do strange things to Firefox.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
