W/ Google searching, cmptr froze w/ Mozila Err Cd 03213210x508 w/msg, "Windows Security Alert, Your System is Infected" w/Adroit Rescue number to call.

Received Error Message Windows Security Alert, Your System is infected, call 1-866-943-1223, which connected to Adroit Rescue. I could not get out of the message window or do anything else with the computer so called the number. Adroit agreed to help for a charge of about $200 which included 1 year of service and 3 years of security coverage. Should I have agreed to this? Although other messages warned me not to restart the computer because it would be damaged (did not record all the text, and much of it was covered up by the error message box), I did try try to turn it off and on but the same messages appeared and I was still not able to operate the computer. Looking up AdroitRescue, I see it is a new company which may be short-lived, so is it possible they could have been responsible for creating this problem on my computer? I supposedly have Windows 7, although I see below the OSVersion is listed as Windows_NT 6.1.

Do not contact or use that site. You can try to report it to various places as a scam. I think in USA the FBI runs a website for reporting scams.

Is this post made from the computer you that they tried to scam ? If so at least it is still working. But you say unable to operate the computer so maybe you are posting from a different computer.

NT 6.1 means Windows & so you are ok there.

Scan your computer using all the tools mentioned in

If the attacked computer will not start try in Windows Safe mode with networking. Then try to scan it.

Note if Firefox starts with their webpage it may be that they managed to change the shortcut used by the startup icon. Right click and look at its properties. Meanwhile to circumvent that use a run dialogue by keyboard shortcut Winkey+R then type in firefox & press Enter
