OK, so I'm going to try to be as explicit as possible so as to get as clear an answer as possible.

I am on a webpage. I want to edit the webpage address. I touch the address bar. THE WEB PAGE DISAPPEARS. I need then to RELOAD THE PAGE (Thank you for wasting my precious bandwidth... NOT!)

So we're back to where we were before... I need to EDIT THE URL WITHOUT LOSING THE WEB PAGE. WHY does Firefox DELETE THE WEBPAGE WHEN I TRY?

IF that is indeed not a bug but a 'feature'... WHERE IS THE FORWARD BUTTON SO I CAN GET BACK TO WHERE I WAS WITHOUT INCURRING DATA FEES? Just try this: have the webpage loaded. Turn data off. Touch the address bar. Firefox deletes the webpage. Tap reload (remember their is no such thing as "go back to where you came from" or "reload from cache")... "Server not found" Thanks, that was helpful...

Furthermore - the webpage is gone but I can still see the address highlighted. How do I PREVENT AUTO HIGHLIGHTING so that I can go back into the address bar to where I need to edit the url? Without the risk of HAVING THE WHOLE URL DELETED when I try to edit it? Can't I turn the 'feature' off?

It boggles the mind that doing something that comes naturally after having used browsers for more than 20 years would be so FRUSTRATING TO DO on a tablet that has A HIGHER SCREEN RESOLUTION that may computer ever had (I recently learned how to chose my download location - unbelievable how complicated it is compared to a simple "save as" dialog box, but I digress)...!

OK - Let's just assume this is done BY DESIGN and that Firefox considers Android users are simply too dumb to know better - Maybe I am simply knocking at the wrong door here and this is the forum "Firefox Android for Dummies", but can someone tell me HOW to install a NON-NEUTERED version of Firefox on my tablet like I have on my Windows PC?

Sorry for being so upset but after using computer for 40 years and a browser for almost 25, I have grown sick and tired with the police state of affairs in modern computing and the fad for corporate entities to dumb everything down to total uselessness and reduce choice to cosmetics and, of any company, I was expecting better from Mozilla!

Oh, and by the way: It looks like Firefox on the desktop needs to learn good manners and NOT tell me that I use an 'older version of Firefox' on my PC, I will use the version I pretty well please and am perfectly aware of the 'security' consequences, Thank You.

Pressing the back button twice on the Android device will exit the URL entry view. The first press will close the keyboard, the second will bring you back to the page.
