This is not, obviously, a problem that can be fixed by anyone. I am just posting it here so people are aware. Moderators please move/share on appropriate threads/platforms.

I am based in Shanghai. Lately I noticed that without a vpn these sites take minutes to load, IF they load at all. I log into my vpn, they load in a few seconds.

Now, to many not in China, this may seem unbelievable. To those of us in China, this is no surprise. There is a concerted effort by the Ministry of Information here to "degrade" foreign-based (read: West-based) internet tools, in favor of Chinese ones. So, for example, if I am Chinese and it's troublesome to use FF, I'll go back to Qihoo 360. (MS is an exception to the above, because they have been in bed with the Chinese government for a long time now)
