hi bill, please see if you can resolve the problem on the plugin-check page when you go to the firefox menu ≡ > addons > plugins & set the "java deployment toolkit" to never activate and then reload the page?

How many extensions do you have installed?
Minimal. My other (XP) laptop has the same and the process was quick and flawless. The trouble is on my Win 7 laptop. The page just sits there with the clocky thing going round and round.
