Why can't I see a local folder (it disappears) when I renamed it to the name 'Archives'?
I use Thunderbird stable on OS X latest version. (10.10.4, TB 38.0.1) Sorry for my bad english, I am a french person. I will try to be as clear as possible.
I have a tree of folders with messages on the local messages store.
I had a local folder that I renamed to 'Archives'. I saw the folder until I left TB, but when I started again TB, it had disappeared.
I could not see the folder anymore, but in the profile directory (on the hard drive), I could see the mailbox files (two files)
I managed successfully to restore the content of the folder by using the Import mailbox function of the extension 'ImportExportTools'. And when I put the folder in the same directory it was before it disappeared, I got the message that 'A folder with that name does already exist' and suggest to change the name of the moving folder.
So I chose another name for my folder, and it seems to stay visible. But I cannot use the name 'Archives' which seems to be used by a hidden folder (mail folder), and I fear it would disappear again if I used that name.
Please do you have an idea of what gone wrong, and what could be done to avoid this problem?
Maybe forbidding renaming folders to reserved names would be a first, quick solution. (as it seems that 'Archives' is reserved)
Thanks for your work, at Mozzilla. I appreciate your products, anyhow. Regards,

That folder name is reserved for the inbuilt archive function.. Select a mail you want in your archive, or even better something your planning on deleting, and Press the A key. That will make the inbuilt archive functional. Then you can move you mail to that folder.
