Hi Genke,
The information we need is just the Crash ID the latest two or three should do. The need to be the ones starting with bp- The forum software converts those to links, but not until after you post them, so you will not see the link in your preview. See also
We're sorry to hear that Firefox is crashing. In order to assist you better, please follow the steps below to provide us crash IDs to help us learn more about your crash.
- Enter about:crashes in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A Submitted Crash Reports list will appear, similar to the one shown below.
- Copy the 5 most recent Report IDs that start with bp- and then go back to your forum question and paste those IDs into the "Post a Reply" box.
Note: If a recent Report ID does not start with bp- click on it to submit the report.
(Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)
Thank you for your help!
More information and further troubleshooting steps can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox crashes (closing or quitting unexpectedly) article.
Hi John,
Thanks for reverting. I've put a few more Crash IDs just to show how frequent these crashes are.
Running firefox in safe mode helps, but i'm not sure what the issue is.

Hello John,
Any chance you've a had a look at those reports? Do let me know if you need more information.
Thank you.
The crash report flagged these programs;
ntdll.dll = Microsoft
nvwgf2um.dll = NVIDIA Compatible D3D10 Driver
nvumdshim.dll = NVIDIA Corp
Perform a System File Check to fix corrupted system files http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html
See if there are updates for your graphics drive drivers https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration
As to NVIDIA, download the current full installers for their programs.
Hello Fred,
Need a little bit more help. I was unable to perform the sfc/ scannow in the command prompt. Please see attached picture.
With regards to my graphics card, I have installed the Nvidia GeForce Experience to ensure the drivers are up to date.
From those programs flagged out in the crash reports, does it mean that my graphics card is incompatible with firefox, despite the drivers being up to date?
The message says that another scanner is running. Do you know what it is?
Start your Computer in safe mode with networking. Then start Firefox. Try Safe web sites.
Starting The Computer In Safe Mode;

Now run SFC.
it would be well worth trying Firefox is its own safemode. If that works try Firefox in ordinary mode but with hardware acceleration disabled.
- Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode
- Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems_turn-off-hardware-acceleration
Does that stop the crashes ? (If so both updating and rolling back graphics drivers is worth trying.)
If you do still get crashes in Firefox's safemode please paste in couple of Crash IDs from those crashes.

Hello Fred, Ignore the earlier screenshot of the scanner. I restarted the computer and tried again and the scan was successful but it could not fix the corrupted files. Not sure if this is causing the issue. I've attached the recent scan anyway in case it will shed some light.
John thanks. I've been running firefox in safe mode for these few weeks now. It works fine in safe mode. I'll have a look at disabling the hardware acceleration and see how it goes.
Thanks again guys!
Hello John,
So I've turned off the hardware acceleration and and it does stop the crashes.
Since my graphics card drivers are all up to date, it seems like I have only two options: 1) Turning off hardware acceleration 2) Disabling WebGL
Just wanted your opinion on which option is better, and is it possible to explain what the difference is? For now I'm using firefox without hardware acceleration and it's definitely way better than operating on safe mode.
Thanks again.
The issue is primarily with having the hardware acceleration turned on. Is there any way to solve this given my graphics card drivers are all up to date?
Did you upgrade from Fx36 to Fx36.0.1 by the way, because that fixed a graphics issue.
The immediate solution will be to run with Hardware Acceleration (HA) disabled. Firefox's safe mode is intended for testing; not as a permanent solution, and turning off HA is one of its features. It is possible that only the updated driver crashes Firefox so it would be worth testing with the driver rolled back or any available generic driver. (See linked articles in my last post)
You probably do not want to turn off WebGL unnecessarily as you will lose functionality.
- This page has a simple WebGL test http://get.webgl.org/
prefs webgl.disabled & for HA layers.acceleration.disabled . The test should work with HA disabled.
It would not harm to file a Mozilla bug for the problem, you may do that from the link in the crash report. The Crash Reports may be linked from bugzilla comments in the same way as this forum just include the bp-prefix. (They will show up as links in preview on bugzilla.) Also please mention this thread ( https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1050556 ) in the bug
If you do file a bug please say what the bug number is.
Actually the crashes only started after I upgraded from Fx36 to Fx36.0.1.
I will try now, testing with the driver rolled back. However, I was looking through the previous link and it was purely for updating drivers. Can I trouble you for the link to guide for rolling back drivers?
If this fails, I will then post a bug report. Thanks for all the help!
