In IE you can select which search engine the browser uses when opening a new page - is this possible with Firefox?

Originally, every time I opened a page, the browser opened google search page. Then I downloaded some program, and now instead of google, a page with another search engine appears. In IE9 (at least) you can easily select which search engine the browser uses not just when opening the browser, but when opening new pages with the browser. Is selecting possible with Firefox, too?
