My home page location appears in the address bar, but does not load. When I print emails, an "about:blank" pop-up appears and is blank. How do I fix these?

This is with Firefox 3.6, Windows XP. The home page is set for my email location with the correct address in the address bar, but the page does not appear until I press "Enter" again. When I try to print an email from a link on the page, a new blank page pops up from "about:blank".
