Why are my websites not opening properly anymore
you did an update or something. But now several sites that were working fine are not. USAA won't open, a portal page that used to work now doesn't. It is like you are blocking pop up and other sites for no reason.
All the sites I mentioned work fine in IE and Chrome.
I have cleared the caches and my passwords and a bunch of other stuff, but I am seeing no improvements.
Don't tell me to uninstall and reinstall, because if I uninstall it, it won't be put back on my system. I'll just move to Chrome.
So, What did you do?

No, uninstalling usually is not a good strategy.
(1) If you think the pop-up blocker is a problem, it's easy to allow pop-ups as a test.
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Content
Here you can uncheck the box to allow all sites to use pop-up windows.
Any difference?
(2) Have any sites alerted you that JavaScript is not enabled?
(3) In case one of your extensions is involved, could you test the problem sites in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Use Troubleshoot Mode in Firefox.
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
- "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
- Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run
After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset).
Any difference?
If problems persist in these tests, could you describe in a more detail what you mean by "won't open" and "doesn't work"? Do you get a blank page, or do the site's links/menus do nothing, or does the site report an error, etc.
By the way, it's hard to answer your question about what changed because hundreds of changes are made in each release. Hopefully we'll figure out the specific issue after a few rounds of troubleshooting.
