Using Firefox 42, did the restore thing and also tried the private tab addon. Nothing helped. I want to use the always use private mode option, however, "new window" or "private window" gives me a window where all my logins are still active. I need to close Firefox and restart it to clean it. Working on different windows independent from each other is not possible, which is the opposite of what I'm trying to achieve. However i do accept cookies in the settings, anyways I don't think they should be available in a new private window. Any help? Actually this smells very buggy to me.

I have a program from a government authority that requires me to "Not to remember the history" (under Options/Privacy) otherwise it fails. I though that if I browsed in a private window that there would be no history record? This is the case with all other internet browsers that I use and it is automatic. I have never needed to go into settings. The Mozilla private browsing has remembered every site that I've been on and does not "forget" them when I log off. The history IS shown. What's more, I can NOT delete them with ctrl/shift/delete. This immensly irritating!!!!!! Please offer a solution.

I do not want ANY history of where I have been to show. I cleared my history and checked that it not show anything. But I just noticed, that recently closed tabs show where I have recently been. What is the point of clearing my history or having is disabled if recently closed tabs shows where I have been. This is crucial for someone who is having their account monitored by someone else. How do I delete recently closed tabs and is there anyway to disable that?

Privacy and security setting require too much time and too much to have to learn just secure access to the Internet? Why don't you get it? Firefox users need to have default suites of security setting from which to choose. Examples: Maximum Security: High Security: Medium Security: Low security: Roll my own by picking and choosing.

Clicking on any of these security categories should list what is included and maybe an option to change something.

Once an option is chosen, subsequent changes and updates to features within that option should be automated and a 'What's new/changed in the chosen security category be added within security updates emails.

As it is I have to spend hours figuring what alll this stuff means just to get security internet acces via a Firefox - not that other are better.

p I have taken great pains to opt out of all these privacy sharing websites such as mylife.com. However, if I type my name in the search bar in my Firefox browser immediately on the top an non-existent listing for me from mylife .com appears with my name, age and location prominently displayed for all to see. Please remove this. There is no page. I want my identity protected and my privacy restored.

I am very upset with Firefox when C Google was able to do this easily with information I provided on a dedicated page.

I have Firefoxes with alomst identical default profile, lets say they are two Firefoxes on different machines. Perhaps their profile is a bit different, but mostly default settings

When I change preferences like on screen in one browser I don't see shield near url in address bar, but in another browser with THIS preferences I do see shield with both two checkboxes on or off. (Checkboxes for "Trackers" and "Cookies")

Which behavior is "default" or "normal" or "correct" for current Firefox version?

default checkbox's values were changing in different releases

Version: 73.0.1

I am in Private Browsing mode and prefer to stay that way. The default 'Standard Enhanced Tracking Protection' option is on.

I have access to all websites except one, the Value Village club member page.

A pop-up appears on the bottom of the webpage to the effect of 'we use cookies to improve user experience' with 'cookie preferences' and 'accept cookie' options.

I click on 'accept cookies' and attempt to sign in but there is an error stating 'There could be a misconfiguration in the system or a service outage. We track these errors automatically,'

I clicked on the shield icon to the left of the URL address, turned off 'enhanced tracking protection for this site,' and attempted to sign in again but still no success so I turned enhanced tracking protection back on for this site.

I went into the Privacy settings and clicked 'Manage Exceptions' and there are options to 'cancel' or 'save changes' but no options to add a website.

I went into the Privacy settings and clicked on 'Manage Permissions' for cookie and site data, added the website, and clicked allow but still no success.

I clicked on the website pop-up 'cookie preferences' option and there are six types of cookies, two of which are essential for website functionality so I select 'active' for both types of cookies. I attempt to sign in again but the same error message is displayed.

I selected 'allow' for all six types of cookies and attempted to sign in but still no success.

Is there an easy fix that I am overlooking?

Astonishingly, Firefox Accounts, and everything behind them, do not require any password for sign-in/log-in. That is, I created a PW and logged in once. But no matter how many times I sign out, Mozilla's systems lets me back in with just a user name and no PW required. This utter failure at basic security is quite disturbing.
