Ever since updating Firefox/Mac to v.22, the built-in Firefox PDF viewer won't open PDFs. Any PDF link automatically downloads the file.

I've set the Applications control for PDFs to "Preview in Firefox". I've also reset the mimeTypes.rdf file, but none of this has helped. The files download to my HD. Firefox won't open PDFs on its own. I've had to resort to installing the Shubert plugin to get PDFs to display. It works, but I'd rather get Firefox's native reader to work.

Is there, perhaps, a setting under about:config that might need changed? I don't have to enable Java, do I?

Firefox 22/Mac OSX 10.6.8

Thanks.

This is happening since the last software update. On sites whitelisted by NoScript. And when I adjust NoScript to allow the whole site.

DSLReports test apps say my DSL download speed is fine, and the Tweak says my settings are at 97% efficiency.

And I have not changed any AddOns etc since the new FF update, so things should still work fine.

I think this is an issue mishandling the cache, since when I re-open the page, SOMETIMES it fixes the problem. But clearing the cache does not seem to fix the problem until I close the tap

Problem on this Mozilla site, as well as Amazon.com

Never used to happen.

But now, when I open a new tab, there is an extra page remaining BEFORE the website's. VERY annoying since I have to 'open' each webpage each time, even though I'm saving & opening my tabs.

Is this a security problem?

Even on a supposedly secure banking site, all someone needs to do now is click on my username and it gives a list of the users, click one and it fills in WITH password. NOT funny.

I use FlashPlayer to watch videos on YouTube. To get rid of the notification "Press Esc To Exit Full Screen Mode," I went to about:config and changed the value of "full-screen-api.approval-required" to false. It worked until I restarted Firefox and now it doesn't.

As a matter of fact, every time I restart Firefox, it does a lot of things against my Preferences, too. It signs me out of YouTube and every other site even though I have the box checked to NOT do that.

Any real answers or am I deleting Firefox permanently and going back to Safari?

I just upgraded to FF 4. Every time I wake my Macbook Pro up from sleep mode (from having put it to sleep/closing the lid, with FF still running), FF freezes. This only began happening since I upgraded 2 days ago.

It doesn't crash. Every other program that was running before works just fine, the mouse works, keyboard, etc. But FF appears frozen, won't actually open new URLs (it just sits there after I've typed a new URL or tried to use one of the tabs I had open from before putting it to sleep), and each time I've had to force quit FF and re-open, and then it works fine.

This was not an issue with FF 3.

Any ideas? I looked around for similar questions in the forum but only saw posts about FF crashing, not freezing.

When I click onto the Mozilla Firefox icon and open the browser up, it doesn't automatically connect to the online server. Instead, a message appears that it is in offline mode. If I want to go online, I am instructed to click a "Retry" button. This then initiates the online mode. It doesn't happen all the time but most often first thing in the morning and/or if Firefox has not been opened for a few hours. Is there something I need to change in the Firefox Preferences under Network/Connection/ Settings?

I've tried resetting and various other workarounds I've seen on the forums, and still, FF will soon jump to using up 4 Gigs of RAM, and when I want to open a new window, or tab, it will freeze, and I must wait till the spinning ball does it thing, watching the CPU usage shoot up to 300 or 400%, or in some cases, as high as 2,000%!! All the while showing "Firefox is not responding". Then, it will finally go back down (CPU usage, not RAM), and function for awhile, or it may crash. Once it gets up that high, I will reboot the program, but it doesn't take it very long to climb right back up there. What else could be the issue?

After reset, which said that I wouldn't loose any bookmarks, all bookmarks folders that I had are gone except for Bookmarks Toolbar and Bookmarks Menu that has just recently bookmarked folders. I had about 50 others that are gone. How do I get them back? Where are they? There is a folder on my desktop that says "old Firefox data" and following the directions I took jplaces.sqlite from that folder and replaced the one in the new in Profiles, but it didn't restore the bookmarks. Help!!

Problem noticed since last week: boxy areas of pixels less than 1" sq flicker rapidly or stay white in Firefox windows, in a horizontal row maybe 7 inches from top of the window, generally maintaining the same pattern. At first I thought my monitor was going bad, but (a) the clusters do not appear so far in any other application and (b) they move exactly in synch with the Firefox window, on either my laptop screen or the attached second monitor. (Hmm - as I write this I notice a couple of other patches flickering at the top of the Firefox window, over the leftmost tab; the lower problem areas now appear stable.)

They occur - so far as I can tell, which is difficult unless the window is mostly dark - during internet actions such as requesting or receiving a new page, sometimes just with mouse motion, or sometimes with no activity on my part, generally lasting only a second or so but soon recurring.

The attached screen capture ("Screen shot 2015-02-23 at 4.59.05 PM.png") shows 4 examples of this - to the left of the "Christ at Emmaus" caption, obscuring most of the "Ephraim Bonus..." thumbnail, a lighter area just a bit to the right of that thumbnail, and part of an even lighter specimen at the edge of the Firefox window. (So far the "uploaded images" box displays only a rotating work-in-progress circle, so I can't tell if that image will upload along with this message... this may be because I had the image open in Preview at the time I clicked the upload button, but I see no way to abort and restart the process.)

Firefox crashes on any page with flash. I have the most recent version of Firefox on OSX Snow Leopard. I have made sure that I have all the most recent plugins and extensions and I am not running any custom theme. I have completely un-installed and re-installed Firefox and flash to no avail. I think the problem is in some user preference, but I cannot seem to find it. If I log out and use a different user on my machine, Firefox does not have the flash crash problem.

I have installed a certificate and an intermediate certificate on a website. It works in all browsers, except "some" Firefox's.

On my mac in Firefox 3.6.8, if I look in my root certificate list, I can see a Geotrust Global CA - but not a Geotrust DV SSL CA.

Geotrust Global CA is the root CA. Geotrust DV SSL CA is my intermediate certificate - signed by Geotrust Global CA.

If I use openssl s_client to test the ssl connection to the server, I am given both the sites certificate and the intermediate certificate.

Back to my Firefox, when I visit the website, it is displayed without any trouble or warning. If I look in the Certificate liste, Geotrust DV SSL CA is now automagically imported. Which is just fine and by design (as far as I understand).

But a customer of mine is also running mac and Firefox 3.6.8 - same version as me. I looked at his certificate list, initially it looks the same, he has Geotrust Global CA but not Geotrust DV SSL CA. But when he visits the exact same website, a warning is displayed that his browser doesn't trust the issuer of the certificate.

I wonder, is there an option or anything that could make my customers and my Firefox behave differently? ( same platform, same version )

I've tried upgrading to 5, but I see no benefit in features or performance. On the other hand, now I cannot use several add-ons that were fairly important to my work. So while I'd normally just go back a version until the add-ons catch up, everything on the site points back to version 3.6. So far i can't find anything about version 4; it's been dismissed like a bastard stepchild. So, what's the deal? If there's a good reason to avoid 4 i'd like to know; i have a couple other installs of 4, so if these need to be downgraded i should like to know why...?

I select View --> Page Source and no window appears. Under the Window menu, the item Source: . . . shows but no window. If I close the main window then the item is ticked but still no actual window. I have disable all extensions and plugins, safe mode, revert all preferences. the same happens with Show all Bookmarks. This is why I posted this under bookmarks problems originally - see below. I now find the same happens to downloads and Error console windows. No problems in Safari or MS Word (usually the worst performer)

Bookmarks are all present, but show all bookmarks produces no window, even though the window menu shows an item and I can select it. Mac OS 10.6.8 FF 5.01 Show all bookmarks shows no window, even if I close the main window. Under window menu the 'Library' item is ticked but still nothing. I have restarted, and renamed places database. recently installed some of these addons

Can anyone from Mozilla or just general developers explain why FF has decided to change the handling of CSS3 animations? This primarily breaks most of the functionality of the Adobe Edge software. Any info would be great!

The main issues are items not locating correctly on the screen, and some transitions not occurring as they should.

I upgraded to Firefox 18 on my MacBook Pro a couple of days ago. Ever since, the fonts, both on display and in print, look rather bad.

-- Anything in bold is blurry on display, and almost impossible to read when printed. -- All fonts appear smaller, even though my default font size and minimum font size have not changed. -- I'm using Times for my serif font, but its use seems inconsistent from site to site. The only time font use is consistent is when I switch to Helvetica and/or change the proportional font to sans serif.

I typically leave "Allow pages to use their own fonts" off, because I prefer to read everything in serif. The issue, however, is there whether I leave that setting on or off.

I'm using OS 10.6.8 and Suitcase Fusion 3 to manage fonts.

Any suggestions?
