'Save Image As' keeps changing the location it's saving the file. As I'm going through various pages and saving certain images, I notice that sometimes it saves where I'm expecting it to, (the location I most recently selected while saving an image), but very often, in the same session (meaning I haven't closed and restarted FF), it decides to change the location to a directory I've used earlier, instead of where it just saved the previous file.

I thought it might be a scenario something like, I open tabs 1 - 5, save images to location A. Then I save a file to location B, open up pages 6 - 10, save a file to location A again. At this point I expect that my files will default to location A, but maybe pages 6 - 10 now have location B associated with them and they will default there instead. I just tested that and that's not it.

It's also not extension (ie .jpg, .gif) that forces the change of location. I can't figure out what triggers it.

Does anyone know if there is another about:config setting that we can change, (which the next FF upgrade in 5 minutes will undoubtedly override) to restore proper behavior?

This behavior started with the upgrade to FF 7.

I call a Java class from JavaScript in HTML-Code. The JavaScript get loaded earlier then the Java Applet. Even the Java Applet-Tag is on the top. When I have a button in HTML to start the Java-class with JavaScript, it works. But it should also be possible to do that right after loading die Java Applet. Until 3 months ago it was working always properly on Mac with Firefox for 6 years. On Windows it still works perfect with Firefox. And it worked always perfect on Windows with Internet Exlorer and Chrome. I hope you can solve this problem. With Safari Java Applets don't run any more even Java is active in Safari. So my customers have just Firefox to work with on Mac. Chrome doesn't work on Mac. Here is my Code. The Applet is signed by symantec:

<html>
 <head>
 <applet code="testmacsigned.class" archive="testmacsigned.jar" width="0" height="0" mayscript name="testmac" id="testmac"></applet>

         <param name="archive" value="testmacsigned.jar">
         <param name="code" value="testmacsigned.class">
         <param name="mayscript" value="yes">
         <param name="scriptable" value="true">
     </object>-->
     <!-- <embed code="testmacsigned.class" type="application/x-java-applet" archive="testmacsigned.jar" mayscript name="testmac">
        <noembed>
          No Java Support.
        </noembed>
      </embed>-->

 <script language="JavaScript">
 <!--
  function fctapplet(){
   window.document.testmac.testmacsigned();
  }
 -->
 </script>
 </head>
 <body>
 <table>
  <tr>
   <td>
    <input type="button" onClick="javascript:fctapplet();" value="go">
   </td>
  </tr>
 </table>
 <table>
  <tr>
   <td>

   </td>
  </tr>
 </table>

 <script language="JavaScript">
 <!--
  window.document.testmac.testmacsigned();
 -->
 </script>

 </body>

</html>

The last command - window.document.testmac.testmacsigned(); - doesn't work anymore because the Java Applet on the top isnt' loaded allready.

You really need to employ some graphic artists. This is the worst change I have seen in Firefox. The tabs should be BELOW the bookmark toolbar, right above the pages. That's where your eye most easily rests when you're looking for a tab. I looked at "solutions" but I'm not a freaking software engineer!! I just need to get the tabs back down where they were and can't find a solution. If I can't find one I guess I'll have to go back to Safari, which I don't like as well as I have liked Firefox all these years, but this change is just too much.

Also, it's not bad enough to put the tabs at the top (where your eye does not easily travel to!), but now the tabs are white type on a black background. Perhaps fine for 25-year-old eyes, but not for older eyes or visually challenged people in general. And if you have multiple tabs open, which many multitaskers do, you can only see a few letters. I could go on and on about how horrible this new change is, but please take some advice from a retired graphic designer. Black backgrounds with faint light type are not the way to go.

I just updated to Firefox Quantum (57.0) and the font sizes in the menu bar and the bookmarks toolbar have gotten small. One suggestions was to download an add-on called Theme Font & Size Changer but this is not compatible with Firefox Quantum. So, apart from buying a very very large magnifying glass, what do I have to do to increase the font sizes? When will this add-on be available for Quantum? Thanks

Hi, The subject is sort of self explanatory but for the last few months (not sure exactly when) i have had regular Firefox crashes, it seems to happen when i'm out of memory and FF has used all the available RAM. I have a MBP with i7 and 8gig of RAM using the latest OSX 10.9.1 and latest FF 26. I always keep up to date with the software. Usually i have about 20 or so tabs open and go back and forth between these. I have googled and read allot on this topic and most people recommend starting in safe mode, without add-ons , creating clean profile etc and i have done these but slowly i get back into the same issue even after a clean profile.... It seems for every FF update the memory usage increases....back in the day FF was extremely fast and efficient. Or maybe latest FF just wants to remember so much and save just to much old information which leads to these ridiculous amount of memory usage, i tend to go over 3-4gig RAM after half a day alone before it crashes and all my tabs are lost which is extremely frustrating. Is there a way to limit the memory usage? Only helpful tips i have found so far that seems to remove allot of garbage from the cache and the footprint is going to about:memory and run the "minimize memory usage", this has been working great and so far after 2-3 hours its steady on 900meg (more or less) with 16 tabs open. Isnt this something FF needs to do regularly to get rid of old stuff ? i saw youtube and many other old stuff in the cache which i was not using and caused FF to go over 2 gig or so before i run this so why isnt this automated? as a user i shouldnt need to care about such thins really. I also used Safari for a few weeks with same amount of tabs and it never goes over 800-900 meg. I really hope you guys can explain and give me some tips as to how to limit the memory usage of FF and not the regular make a clean profile and generic tips. I really think the problem is FF and nothing else. I done extensive testing here and i'm using just a few add-ons Adblock plus All in one Gestures Swedish dictioanary Downloadhelper Screengrab Download Statusbar

Sorry if i sound irritated but having to lose my tabs daily and being forced to bookmark my tabs constantly just in case FF crashes has been bugging me for a while now and i'm on the verge to switch browser but frankly there is no other browser as good as FF (offering same amount of plugins/add-ons) so i badly want to use FF if possible.

If you need any more info let me know.

Cheers

I used Firefox up to version 3.5 and it worked well. But ever since, FF has frozen as soon as I've opened a webpage other than Google. FF even freezes when I'm in Mozilla's help pages ! I have trashed and reinstalled several times, updated constantly as suggested. I'm now using (or trying to use) version 25. No success. I have done everything that was suggested :

- trashed and reinstalled ( several times over the years, to see if new versions of FF would work) - restarted FF in safe mode - tweaked the profile as recommended - I've painstakingly checked that all my plug-ins etc were up to date. They are.

None of these solutions have worked. As I have written more than once, none of them should be necessary : Firefox should "just work". After all, other browsers do - I use Safari and Chrome, for instance, as well as SeaMonkey. Does any one know what's happening ?

I'm now running Mac OS 10.9.

I know there are a variety of solutions posted here to this problem (like deleting xulstore) but Firefox recently (v55?) stopped remembering my window sizes and positions on restore. I thought it was an add-on problem like Classic Theme Restorer or SessionManager or TabMixPlus but I tried with a brand new profile with no add-ons installed and it still is displaying the same broken behaviour: all restored windows are restored to the same stock size and position and new windows open with that same stock size also (even if they are opened from windows whose size I have changed).

Anyone know what is going on? Is this a recent regression?

Firefox (Quantum) is not printing everything on a particular page -- it only prints about half of the information.

But Chrome does print all of it.

We use Firefox here at work so I enter the data on Firefox and use Chrome to print it. I'm so confused as to why Firefox is only printing half of the data but Chrome prints all of it.

I have tried everything from the "printing issues" troubleshooting page including resetting the printer settings and also removing all lines in the prefs.js file that start with print_.

Please help. Thanks!

Was forced to update to 48. Even tho I had my preferences set to NOT dowload updates, it did it any way.  :-((

Now, the font is WAY TOO SMALL. There are more issues, but I'll just focus on the font shrinkage.

I had zoom in as much as 133% and more in order to be able to read the font on my 13" macbook. And I'm not THAT visually impaired! I have had to do it on every tab. I can't adjust it in preferences because the "ok" button is missing!!! (see screen shot attached)

My previous font sizer add-on is no longer compatible. And Theme Font Size Changer warns mac users that it STILL has a bug, so I can't use that.

Does anyone know of an add-on that works in macs that adjusts the font size in the tab titles AND on the website pages so I don't have to keep increasing font size every time I open the browser and/or a new tab?

Thank you.
