I was messing around with Privacy & Security settings. Under Cookies & Site Data, I checked Delete Cookies & Site Data when Firefox closes. I've decided I don't like it and want to uncheck it. But now it's greyed out and I can't find any way to change it back. It says I'm in permanent private browsing mode. There MUST be a way to change this back to how it was! What is it???

I am unable to connect to the following URL https://lakmshaegov01.msha.gov/UserManagement/ChangePassword.aspx. All other browsers seem to work.

I ran an SSL Labs test and it confirms that all tested versions of Firefox fail. I would like to know if anyone can spot something that might allow me to connect by temporarily relaxing the security checks in Firefox for this site.

Hi, I faced the problem with Youtube recommendations on a video page. When I watch a video I can't see recommendations, comments and video title (see the image). In console i get an error: Cross-Origin Request Blocked: The Same Origin Policy disallows reading the remote resource at https://googleads.g.doubleclick.net/pagead/id. (Reason: CORS request did not succeed).

I am on arch linux system.

I've tried to: 1. Update all ca-certificate* packages 2. Disable and delete ad-block 3. Use another browser (there is no problem, only in firefox)

This problem is only actual on Youtube for me.

I use the save login info feature in Firefox. I have a saved login for a frequently used website. Firefox reliably fills out the username and password correctly for me. Recently it started asking me every time I log in to "Would you like to update this login?" prompt but with a bogus password. If I press "Update" it changes my password to this bogus password, so I have to press "Don't Update" every time I login just to keep my good password. If I do accidentally press "Update" I have to go to the "Saved Logins and Passwords" and manually fix my password for that website.

My question is, what would cause Firefox to think I have changed my password and give me this prompt when I have not?

And, by the way, the bogus password is always the word: "test" (my correct password is very strong and has over 20 characters).

This happens to me and many other people all the time. It always happens with .swf files since I can remember, for security reasons. But it also very often started happening with .pdf files and other file types. Now it happens with .txt files and it's the straw that breaks the camel's back. Inconsistently so as well since when I open it from the website it prompts to download and not when I open the file locally.

This is such a problem that this add-on had to be made https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/open-in-browser/?utm_content=addons-manager-reviews-link&utm_medium=firefox-browser&utm_source=firefox-browser And as you can see it is rather popular. Shouldn't Firefox solve this bug (no it's not a feature or quirk) once and for all?

How can I do the same without an add-on?

Despite the fact I have set Firefox in permanent private browsing, I routinely have to use the "Clear Data" command to remove cashed web content. I don't like stuff being dumped on my hard drive. Recently I have been unable to remove some of this cached web content, initially 32Kb, but now it is up to 752Kb - could this be malware?! How can I find out what it is and how can I remove it?

Sry the message is German but I will translate it hopefully similar to the English output. I try to open this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCcjRePrSj4 Mind you other seem to work fine and I get this issue:

"Dein Browser erkennt zurzeit keines der verfügbaren Videoformate. Klicke hier, um unsere häufig gestellten Fragen zu HTML5-Videos aufzurufen."

Basically says "Your Browser does not recognize any available videoformat Click here, for FAQ around HTML5-Videos"

links to https://www.youtube.com/supported_browsers which literally shows Firefox as supported. I run Firefox on Ubuntu20.04 here and I have no clue what the issue could be. Chromium works. It works on Windows. I tried the safe mode without success. I just want to fix this before I run into this more frequently.

I am utterly clueless. I just today installed Firefox again on my Ubuntu machine. All issues I could find so far seem to be at least 2 years or older...

Hi,

I am trying to enable "Two-step Authentication" under the Manage Account page for my Firefox Account.

I've tried many authenticator / otp app on my android phone and my friend's android phone just to see, but none of them would work. It always says "Invalid two-step authentication code".

Has anyone been experiencing this? Does anyone have a lead on how to fix this?

Thank you!

I am running Debian 10 Linux and recently upgraded Firefox ESR to version 78.3.0 . I noticed that whenever I launch Firefox that the mouse pointer "spins" for up to 40 seconds after launch. This does not seem to affect usability but is visually unpleasant. I have done the following things: 1. Start in Safe Mode: The spinning mouse pointer is no longer spinning after launch. 2. Disabled all plugins and extension and launch Firefox: The pointer keeps spinning. 3. Downloaded Firefox 80 and launched: Pointer keeps spinning. 4. Changed home page to a blank screen: Pointer keeps spinning. 5. Uninstalled Firefox ESR and re-installed: Pointer keeps spinning. 6. Checked for viruses, trojans, and other malware: none found.

Interestingly, if I launch Firefox ESR from a terminal (eg "firefox-esr &") the spinning mouse pointer is not present. HMMMM! This is the command that is used in the desktop icon: /usr/lib/firefox-esr/firefox-esr %u . Is there a problem with that command. I may modify that command and see what happens. Feedback would be appreciated.

Fedora 31 box, 5.8.13 distro kernel, distro firefox

I play online poker at https://www.playwpt.com/ With firefox 81.0.1, my entire computer will be frozen/unresponsive within 30 sec of playing. I revert to 80.0.1, I can play as usual. I haven't seen other problems with other sites.

I've had a similar issue before, I think it was the 78-79 update, something about paging getting stuck, something something.

Anybody else run into this? Fix coming?

Since switching to Firefox I'm experiencing some trouble regarding the playback of videos on different websites which I don't experience using other browsers. At seemingly random moments there are 'stripes' visible which are quite annoying watching a video (see image). I tried restarting Firefox with Add-ons disabled and unchecked 'Use hardware acceleration when available' in the preference section but this doesn't resolve anything. Any suggestions on how to solve this? Thanks in advance!

Hello all and I hope everyone is safe in this pandemic world! In my Applications and in my profile directory, I have Mibbit as the default irc and it comes up everytime I reinstall firefox. I think that this is strange, mibbit is for old crooners isn't it? I would think that FF has advanced! I would like to not see it when I reinstall firefox, is this possible

I also have an installed plugin Shock wave Flash...did I install this or does it come from FF?

thank you,

Hi, I can't find a way to set cookie rules globally that get automatically sent to websites I visit the first time. So my problem is I have to visit a lot of sites for research and every time get distracted by a cookie pop up that I have to accept or lose a lot of screen space. I have Asperger and was wondering, how to set in Firefox what kind of cookies I'm fine with and what don't, basically an API or standard or how you call it, browsers can communicate to cookie managing tools of websites automatically what cookies I want to set and what don't. Also I have some Wordpress websites, so I want to know if Firefos planes to provide a PlugIn for site owners so such automatic cookie settings can also work on my website. Maybe some sort of if-else states that the user of the browser can set, for example:

If website accepts that no cookie is needed - allow no cookies.

If Facebook Like Button is required of website - don't allow and inform me to search information on a competitor sites, via a Firefox pop up

If website allows to save my settings (like dark mode, layout option, ... - always allow

The problem with no automatic Browser wide solution is, in the heat of a work day, i just accept everything because I have no time to go in for every website and pick what cookies I want, and what don't.

Also I am a Designer not a Developer so I can't create such a prototype by myself, even if it would be beneficial for everybody.

What can I do, to get such a Feature, or does it already exist and if how is the API called so that I know how to search for if.

Thank you guys for this great Browser and have a great day
