As others have reported, Firefox will suddenly close. There are no warnings and it doesn't freeze it just turns off.

As a WordPress web developer, I have lost hours of work due to this issue. When the browser closes, my work is lost.

I have installed the latest & greatest video driver (and the driver of everything else.) I have minimal add-ons.

I have seen several other threads and no posted solution. Should I start using another browser?

Hello,

After installing some random extension (pinned tab whats app or something like that), my firefox starts to act weird. I have big stripe/band on top of barely every website I use (as seen on attached screenshots).

I uninstalled the extension right away but it doesn't fix the issue. So I uninstalled entirely firefox, deleted what I found as my use profile folder, made a fresh install, but the issue is still here.

It disappear in troubleshooting mode, but in normal mode even with no extension the bug is still here.

When displaying developer tools, the page is now totally blank on some site, normal on others.

I'm on Elementary Os 5.1 (ubuntu 18.04).

Many thanks in advance for your help !

Everything was running JUST FINE before i turned on my laptop to find things had changed without my permission. Im just a basic man, not an I.T SPECIALIST. I just want to get on the net, thats it! Is that too much to ask seeing that with free will we chose Firefox, but its no better than any Microsoft crap. Takes hours to correct, if at all what these fools do to my routine online after their stupid updates. These fools must expect that everyone is a qualified proffessional who has plenty of time to fix this update mess. Its not the case FYI Firefox staff. And this stuff has been going on for years too and looks set to never end. Why cant my home page remain the same because guess what, it WAS working great until this so called update. What a mess.Firefox have caused me.

How the hell do i get my ORIGINAL, UNALTERED HOME PAGE BACK? Home tab disapeared as well which is common i see and has been going on for years now without an end in sight.. We seem to be the ones wiping Firefoxs arses, like little babies.

JUST SOME FRIENDLY INTELLIGENT ADVICE. HOW ABOUT DOING UPDATES WITHOUT TURNING EVERYTHING UPSIDE DOWN. Probably too much common sense for people today. Best thing is to just keep this internet to a minimum or you will be tearing youre out regularly.

Thanks Firefox for wasting my time on numerous occasions. Im very grateful for your expertise.

Hi everyone!

When I browse the web with Firefox, it happens that the system becomes completely unresponsive. Some web pages seems to make Firefox using a lot of RAM and write a lot on the hard drive. I cannot actually say much more, because it not even possible to login in a console. The system is too slow and the console login times out... Firefox (or Web Content) writes wildly on the hard drive.

I used the Firefox provided by my Linux distribution (Linux Mint), but also the one downloaded from mozilla.org. The problem seems to be less frequent for the second, but it happend nevertheless.

The point is that this problem with Firefox happens sometimes, for example, when I forget the browser open on somehow demanding webpage (like in newspapers where there are a lot of media, graphics, and so on).

A point is also that I cannot replicate this "bug". If now I browsed the same pages that made the mess, nothing would probably happen.

I thought it had to do with the swap, but the system hanged both when the swap space was enabled and when it was disabled.

I saved a copy of the profile (and the cache) after the last crash, if they could be useful. The last time I had actually to force the shutdown of the computer, because there was no way to regain control over it.

Any ideas?

Thank you for your answers!

Greetings.

Whenever I click on a link to Facebook, the page manipulates the browser history, effectively disabling the back button by adding multiple instances of the same page. I read that Google addressed this issue with Chrome a while back, but I don't find anything about a fix for Firefox. Is there one?

Thank in advance. Bill

I noticed ever since I updated to FF ver 85 I started seeing screen tearing when scrolling. This is most noticeable when scrolling through a list of videos or pictures. This only happens on Fire Fox. I do not experience this problem on Chrome. I have already disabled Hardware Acceleration. Made no difference. I'm currently on FF version 86.

Anything else I can try to resolve this issue?

Nothing else on my system is downloading/uploading at all, and it's only Firefox that seems to have this issue. If anyone has potential solutions, I'd love to hear them.

YouTube does not work properly.

Before I start, I must mention that I have tried Chrome, Brave and Edge. None of the others have had this problem and I can confidently say that this only happens with Firefox and Firefox Nightly as well.

Something that I should also mention is I have security.enterprise_roots.enabled set to true in about:config. This is because when it's set to false, Any google related webpage shows a Potential Security Warning. I don't know if this has anything to do with the issue I am having with YouTube but I still wanted to mention it.

Finally, the problem - Firefox and Firefox Nightly both get stuck on loading whenever I click on anything on YouTube. Be it the Channel Icon to go to the channel or a video or even the search bar. Anything that should take me to the next page gets stuck. Screenshot is attached. The only way to open the video or the page is to reload it or to stop the loading enter the link and then manually do it every time I need to click on something in YouTube. I have reinstalled Firefox. Reset everything. Even reinstalled windows. But the issue persists. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

After upgrading to Firefox 89, there is a large grey band covering the top half of almost every website I open. It doesn't seem to happen on reddit.com, but much of reddit.com isn't displayed properly, so there's still a problem.

I tried several things and ended up deleting my ~/.mozilla and ~/.cache/mozilla/firefox directories, but the problem remains. The attached screenshot shows Firefox upon first start after deleting these two directories.

I'm running Firefox on Linux (Elementary OS 5.1.7, which is based on Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS).

Any idea what's going on here?

After a crash, or even after shutting down the computer without closing all Firefox windows, Firefox will restore all the windows and tabs from the last session on restarting Firefox.

There can be many reasons why this may not be preferred behaviour for many users: Sometimes Firefox or the computer crashes because too many windows and tabs are open (and other applications running), killing Firefox may be a measure against malicious pages trying to hijack the browser, discarded pages after shutdown do not need to be restored, ...

So is there a way to make Firefox immediately ask whether to restore the session, like it already does after the second crash? This should actually be an option in the settings.

I can replicate 100% of the time.
