I am done with Google and their shenanigans so i decided to move back to firefox. When i imported my list of bookmarks; the bookmarks have a globe beside the label in the toolbar under address bar. How can i easily get the icons to show up for the different sites...Like reddit used to have the red reddit logo as the icon.

Hi folks.

I know this is a sore point with add ons and "compatibility" with sites etc.

So, here is where I am at: I have FF installed and not too many add ons installed.

This problem has recently happened with no input from me to cause it.

When I go to my bank's home page there are two fields to be entered. 1 - who I am 2 - my password

New tab, no previous log in: All good. If I log in, and log out, then try to log back in is where the problem happens. (Yes, I know: who would do that? But this is just me forcing the problem to happen.)

I click in the first field and enter who I am. Then, I can either move the mouse and click on the second field or press <TAB> to get to it. Either way the first field is WIPED CLEAR.

Granted doing it with all add ons disabled it works.

But it brings me to my real question about: "How do I get from having ALL of them disabled to enabling them one at a time to see which one is causing the problem?"

It would be nice if there was a way that when you select "Start with all add ons disabled" you can go to about:addons and enable them one at a time.

This would help a lot of people to find out what is going on and report bugs to the people who make the add ons.

I also hope that I am automatically subscribed to this thread, as I can't find a "subscribe" button at the bottom.

I miss Firefox's ability to save a bookmark to a previously used folder. I realize that this was never supported by the base version of Firefox, however, it was possible to accomplish through add-ons. For example, if I save a bookmark to the folder "Music", then the next time I bookmark a page it should choose "Music" as the default choice; both when using the Star icon to bookmark a page, or when using the Crtl+D shortcut.

Roughly 2-3 years ago this was able to be done using add-ons. However, since those add-ons have become legacy extensions no developer has come forward with an add-on that accomplishes this feature.

If this was enabled it would save both myself and others a lot of time. At the moment, if I wanted to bookmark a bunch of tabs that are all related while doing research, I would need to click the star icon, move my mouse down and then select the recently used folder. That is a lot more steps then simply clicking the star icon and being done.

Bookmarking a page with this method takes about 3 seconds for each tab if I am bookmarking a bunch of tabs in a row. On the other hand, if the browser remembered my previously bookmarked folder then it would only take about 1 second per tab (This was tested using Chrome as the test browser since it has this feature enabled by default).

By allowing the browser to remember what folder I bookmarked to last, it would save me a good amount of time since I could move my mouse less per tab while bookmarking pages.

Being able to accomplish the same task in roughly a third of the time is pretty important and is substantial enough of a difference that I would consider using a different browser in order to increase my productivity.

I use a lot of links in my Word documents and never had a problem opening any until the last update of Firefox. Now when I put a link into any Word document, and click on it to check the link is correct, I get: "Unable to open https:// xxxxx.com. Cannont locate Internet or proxy server." This is killing me. How do I fix it. I have been using links as promotion for 3 decades. Now none work.

I'm on a mac using the latest OS and I've reinstalled FireFox twice now. Where is this malware coming from? It seems benign enough; it sits in the background and waits for me to mistype a url then it takes me to its search results page...( But I know this means it could also be logging everything I'm doing as well as all my keystrokes. I checked the tutorials on how to remove it but they said I'd have to reset my search preferences and nothing in that panel has been changed. I don't have any weird software installed on my computer and I don't download strange files. Please advise!

PS- It only goes to http://searchguide.level3.com/ when I type in something with .com at the end that won't load. If I type in something that's more of a search term, it goes to google per my settings.

I have tried downgrading, refreshing, fully uninstalling and reinstalling, deleting entire firefox folder, and removed all extensions. When right clicking the toolbar and clicking new bookmark I receive an empty white box with only a cancel button. Also clicking the star does absolutely nothing.

I'm not sure if this is my Firefox acting up, or just the aftermath of Utorrent installing Web Companion, restoring sessions in Firefox hasn't been possible. Firefox does remember my history, but it shows no options for restoring session or restoring tabs. I've already done a refresh, I've deleted web companion and run CCleaner and Malwarebytes Adwcleaner and they show my system is clean, but I still can't get restore sessions to work.

What's going on, and how can I fix this?

since the quantum version I'm feeling like firefox is heating my computer up. When I watch htop sorted by cpu usage something like 50 (may twice) pid are firefox reserved and sharing the same cpu percentage. actually there are tow types of processes : /usr/lib/firefox//firefox /usr/lib/firefox//firefox -contentproc -childID 1 -isForBrowser -boolPrefs 77:0|93:0|183:1|299:0| -stringPrefs .... they are two processes undergoing in a lot of threads. But, is it possible to limit this number of threads, mostly when streaming video the cpu consumption is too much !

tried windows help(ORDEAL) gave up! So not sure this is FF issue or not but u have always been helpful in past. I would like 2 copy 5 , 6 ,8,10 items in copy from the mouse(no keyboard here) and then proceed to paste them in different places. Is this possible? If not is there any 3rd party progs that may help with this. I'm not a techie so please go easy!! Thanking ya'll effusively in advance. Oh yah uh merry xmas !

Some specific websites or parts of website make the tab crash in Firefox 61.0.1 on Ubuntu 16.04. I found that maps.google.ca and tvanouvelles.ca systematically make their tab crash before they are even displayed. facebook.com is fine as long as I don't use the chat. As soon as I open a chat tab or I go in full screen messenger, the tab crashes. messenger.com crashes after I log in.

In safe mode, everything works fine. However, when I disable every add-on in normal mode, the sites specified above still make their tabs crash. Is there any custom setting that could make them crash? Or is it that an add-on still has an effect on the browser even when it is disabled? Thank you for your help!

I'm running a 32" extended monitor on a 15" Lenovo laptop. Up until a couple of weeks ago, I could stretch the Broswer window while on Youtube, to any size plus full screen if I chose too.. Now I'm only able to either stretch the youtube broswer window to 15" max, or full screen the window. Something has changed with Firefox. What's changed.

Just in the last few days, my theme seemed to no longer be applied. If I go into the Add-ons Manager the theme is still selected and enabled, if I disable and re-enable it is applied, but only until I open go to another tab then it is overridden again by the default?

I edited my Bookmarks and some end up missing, others doubled, sometimes in different folders than they belong. Just wacky. Is this a known issue.? v 60.0.2 with Mavericks.

need to load silverlight for work. have tried installing an older version of firefox but to no avail. please help me install this plugin properly. i am running windows 10

This has started few days ago everything was fine before when using speed test upload/download is fine but ping is about 50+ms usually i get 15-20ms every other browser like chrome works fine any ideas whats causing this ? every page is loading slowly now

I am a user of a site DNAGedcom.com which provides a graphical display of spreadsheet type data using an on-line engine. The display can be quite wide and quite long depending on number of data points. A sample of this display is available at the site - go to dnagedcom.com - select 'autosomal tools' tab - select 'Autosomal DNA Segment Analyzer' subtab & click on "sample output" link in text box. The sample is a typical screen for a single dna chromosome. With many matches & all 23 chromosomes displayed, the volume of data generated is quite large. The Chrome browser handles the display well. The IE 11 browser also works well. I have tried Firefox on two separate machines, using Win7 x64 - once data reaches a certain size, the display freezes Firefox with the message at the lower left saying "Transfering data from DNAGedcom.com ..." which never completes. A partial one page of data is all that ever displays & firefox has to be restarted to get back to the browser. I prefer to use Firefox for as my default browser - can you help?

I've been using FF sync between four devices for a long time now. The devices are a Windows laptop, a Mac laptop, an iPhone and an IPad. A couple of weeks ago, the Mac stopped syncing. I've tried disconnecting from FF sync and reconnecting, but that has no effect.

I can log into the FF sync website itself with the same credentials. There, I also tried disconnecting the Mac client, but that also did not help.

In the last error log file, I see the following, which I guess is the cause of the problem. Any ideas on how I can fix this?

When I enter full screen mode the tabs and search box do not auto-hide. I cannot find a setting that will let me do this - although I assume it is possible. I want the content of the website to take over the full screen and hide all of the browser chrome.

I'm running Firefox on a Mac.

Any ideas would be most appreciated.
